i have owned two sportdog systems. wetland 2000 and 2500. i like the 2500 alot better because not only the range is much better but it seems more durable. all collars can be used on both units so i upgraded to the 2500 and can still use the old collars. The one thing i hate on the 2500 is that if you go above three collars you have to shock dogs in pairs. what im saying is that you cannot shock a single dog or use the tone function independantly with three or more hounds. but the price is cheaper then tritronics but tritronics is top of the line if you can spare the cash. Hope this helps

If you are talking about the Pro 2500 you can go up to 6 collars but loose the tone after 2 collars

I started to purchase the 2500 pro instead of g2 trashbreaker. Are you serious about not being able to shock each dog seperately? I was thinking about gettin the 2500 when my pack gets bigger.

as far as i know you do. maybe someone on here has ran that many collars on the 2500 and can give us a definate answer. i like the pro 2500 because of the ease of operation but ive never owned a tritronics to compare it to. the collars have lasted about four years but are starting to fail especially the tone. but the new ones i have seem to be better built.

Three or Six-Dog Operation
A SportDOG Add-A-Dog® receiver must be purchased to train additional dogs.
1. Program the Remote Transmitter to Mode 5 or 7.
2. Flip the toggle switch to the up position.
3. Program the fi rst Collar Receiver:
A. Turn the Collar Receiver off.
B. Press and hold the On/Off Button. The Receiver Indicator Light will come on, then
turn off in 4-5 seconds. If the On/Off Button is released too early, the Receiver Indicator
Light will begin its normal fl ashing. If this occurs, start over and repeat the process.
C. After the Receiver Indicator Light has turned off, release the On/Off Button.
D. Press and hold the Orange Button on the Remote Transmitter until the Receiver
Indicator Light fl ashes 5 times. You may need to hold both units 2-3 feet from each other.
If the Receiver Indicator Light does not fl ash 5 times, start over and repeat the process.
4. Program the second Collar Receiver using A. through D. above, but using the Middle
Button in place of the Orange Button.
5. Program the third Collar Receiver using A. through D. above, but using the Lower Button
in place of the Middle Button.
6. If you want to add a fourth, fi fth or sixth collar, repeat the above steps with the toggle switch
in the down position.

WITH THE 2500 IT IS A 6 DOG AND CAN SHOCK ALL 6 SEPERATE IT IS WAY MORE DURABLE AND THE COMPANY IS WAY BETTER TO DEAL WITH CANT GO WRONG WITH A LIFETIME WARRENTY
LETS SEE A TRITRONICS COMPARE TO THAT

I wouldn't own nothing but a Tri Tronics. Sure it may cost a little more but well worth it to me. To each there own! I have owned my six dog system for 4+ years and have had nothing but good luck with them.. My hounds are ran 4-6 times a week year round!!

I just bought a sportdog 1800 last year, first one that I have owned, but so far so good. I do like tha lifetime warrenty. I have had Tritronics in the past with coon dogs, and they were good also. just like the warrenty.

I am a big fan of SportDog Ecollars.........but discovered recently that the "Lifetime Warranty" is a joke............When told to breakdown collar in seperate pieces to send in to them when the replacement cost is just $20 less than to buy a brand new one without all the hassle......yea "Lifetime Warranty".

I owned Sport Dog And Tri-Tronics. My opinion is that the sport dog didn't come close to the tri-tronics with quality and range. The sport dog was undependable. Just would not shock sometimes. Whether it was me or the collar I don't know, but I don't have that problem with the tri-tronics. My buddy owns a dogtra, and he says when he can afford it he is going with another tri-tronics system. Like they said, more money, but well worth it. Get what you pay for. Just my 2 cents worth.

:hammer: Alright Guys lets be honest . How many of you guys have tested your collars? I bought a new G3 Classic 70 3 months ago, after about a week my son and I tested it. 1.5 to 2 tenths of a mile LINE OF SIGHT. YEA look again tenths of a mile. Called Tri tronics you wouldn't have believed the conversation after I hung up the phone I had to set down and think about it myself. The lady says, who had the transmitter " I did" well did you have the light facing you or away from you? I told her I didn't know what difference did it make she told me the collar works better if the light is facing the transmitter and olny works a mile if that is the case I ask if one of my dogs was running a deer If I had to wait for him to circle to shock him she got alittle irrate and I did too. She then adked where did ya test it "a old army base" Well she said that could be the problem. We went back and forth for sometime and she determined I did not have a proper charge. So I charged it over night and called the next day. I got a different person and the gentleman told me well Mr. you're going to find out why Tri Tronics is number one. I'll send a loaner and we will repair your unit and return it to you. THANK GOD!!! Well after the collar returned I could no longer get 2 tenths of a mile NEVER. Long story short Tri Tonics has had thi unit 12 weeks out of 14, and I am waiting for it to be returned now. Mean while, my brother bought a classic 70 feild I'm thinking over 500.00 one collar. I talked him into testing it, guess what, 1.5 tenths in front of his house. Of course he is like 90% of the people he looks at me and says o'well what ya going to do.. I got a idea B--ch.. By the way I have a Spot Dog 800 (1/2 mile unit) I tested right beside the TriTronics it worked farther and it is a older unit. This is not all I have been through just a ccondenced version.SO you think Tri Tronics is the answer push yourself away from that key board and go out and test it. THEN be honest enough to come back here with your findings..Good luck..Just for a little insight the reason I bought a Tri Tronics again I had one years ago, is because NO one I mean NO ONE is more buy American than I am,but assembled in America is NOT made in America.

Side by side up close the tri tronics will give a bigger shock but out to any distance tri tronics just does not have it, I hunt LP 15" females on hare and use the pro 2500 best money I ever spent. My buddy has a new tri tronics and runs his hounds on my system as his will not reach out like mine. I have actually shocked one of my buddies by mistake when picking up the hounds at better than 3/4 miles. I could barely hear him hollering don't shock the dog don't shock the dog as he got closer to me. He had her in his arms and his hand was to close to the collar, opps.
