Methoprene is the "Plus" in Frontline Plus. It is a junvenile growth hormone regulator for fleas.
All that means is any flea eggs that hatch are "tricked" into staying junveniles, therefore not maturing and are unable to lay any eggs.
If you do not have an existing flea infestation, methoprene is not needed. The Fipronil kills the fleas before they can even lay eggs. (but does not kill eggs or juveniles if they are there before treatment.)
With Termidor you can keep a dog free of ticks and fleas for about a DIME a month!!! And Termidor (as well as Frontline) doesn't expire, just keep in a cool dry place out of the sun. You will get 590 beagle sized doses (1cc) out of a 20 oz. bottle! For around $65-75.
If you buy the big dog Frontline Plus ($35 online) and break them down, it is $2.90 per dose (cc). So a 20 oz bottle (590 doses) of Frontline would run about $1750!!

If you currently buy the Frontline for small dogs, it runs about $12.50 for a cc. ($25 for three .067 cc applicators). Roughly 1/3 the price of gold! So if you bought enough small doses to fill a 20 oz. bottle, it would only cost about $7375 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think Merial and the vets selling Frontline make any money?
$70 is a little more reasonable

I want to thank Madcatter for showing me the light
