Yes. It works fantastic on ticks!! The Fipronil in Termidor is the main ingredient in Frontline. The percentage is almost identical.

Methoprene is the "Plus" in Frontline Plus. It is a junvenile growth hormone regulator for fleas.

All that means is any flea eggs that hatch are "tricked" into staying junveniles, therefore not maturing and are unable to lay any eggs.

If you do not have an existing flea infestation, methoprene is not needed. The Fipronil kills the fleas before they can even lay eggs. (but does not kill eggs or juveniles if they are there before treatment.)

With Termidor you can keep a dog free of ticks and fleas for about a DIME a month!!! And Termidor (as well as Frontline) doesn't expire, just keep in a cool dry place out of the sun. You will get 590 beagle sized doses (1cc) out of a 20 oz. bottle! For around $65-75.

If you buy the big dog Frontline Plus ($35 online) and break them down, it is $2.90 per dose (cc). So a 20 oz bottle (590 doses) of Frontline would run about $1750!! :hammer:

If you currently buy the Frontline for small dogs, it runs about $12.50 for a cc. ($25 for three .067 cc applicators). Roughly 1/3 the price of gold! So if you bought enough small doses to fill a 20 oz. bottle, it would only cost about $7375 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think Merial and the vets selling Frontline make any money?

$70 is a little more reasonable :D

I want to thank Madcatter for showing me the light :)

well if your going to use frontline plus the recommended usage on dogs is .0305ml per lb i usually give a 25lb beagle 4 to 5 tenths of a cc's and so far so good and i live in oklahoma where everything bits. no problems as of yet. the dosage i give isn't as much as what is recomended but i'm not selling the stuff either. the more you use the more you have to buy etc, etc. has anyone had problems using a lower dosage?

Do you mean you use 4/5ths of a cc?

You are right with the .0305 per pound, but 25 lbs X .0305 = .7625 cc

If you are giving 4 or 5 cc's to one dog that is way overkill, and a lot of money. Your dogs will get by fine with one cc or a smidge under.

i want to thank you b-man
many times i take time to post about flea/tick meds and it just seems like folks would rather waste thier money on other name brand stuff.
frontline is about as expensive as cocaine.

i have used termidor for a few years and never will buy frontline again, and my neighbors have also used it and have purchased 20 ounce for themselves.

B-MAN,

Is this stuff really safe to use on dogs and if I get the 20oz bottle for $61.00 how many cc do I apply to adult beagles?

Being a Pest and Termite owner i am Reg with Termidor that is the only way to buy it you have to termite cert and have a number with the Termidor CO it hasnt been determined save for pets and is illegal to be used by the consumer i did spray my pens when i first moved it seemed to work but as for now it is only labeled for ants and termites and works great on those

I suggest that you do your own research to determine if it is safe. All I can say is that the active ingredient is as safe as Frontline.

As Rabbitsmoker stated, Termidor is not approved for use on pets. It is for termites. But change the name to Maxforce and it is for ants. Change the name to Frontline and it is for dogs.......... :bash:

Look up an MSDS (material safety and data sheet) for Frontline and compare it to a MSDS of Termidor. Same thing; different name.........different price

For dosing one cc for a 25-30lb beagle will work great. As stated above, there are almost 600 doses in a bottle! If you treated 3 hounds every month a bottle would last you over 15 YEARS!! We treat about 7 months a year here, so a bottle would last my three dogs almost 30 years!! Myself and some friends pitched in and split a bottle. Even 7oz will last many dogs many years (depending on size and number of dogs).

I also want to add that I have spoken with Termidor Customer Service about their product. Posing as a termite infested homeowner doing research, I wanted to know what the other 90.9% of ingredients are in the product (Termidor is 9.1% Fipronil, Frontline is 9.8%). As I suspected (since they are not listed) it is essentially inert fillers such as water and color. The only thing that poses a health risk is the Fipronil= which poses the exact same risk when used in Frontline. Nothing else in the product can cause any harm to you or your dogs.

Fipronil is a chemical and needs to be treated as so. With Frontline or Termidor, avoid touching it until it has dried.

In a package of Frontline and on the bottle of Termidor; both state:

Harmful if swallowed. Causes eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Wash throroughly with soap and water after handling...............Do not contaminate wate, food, or feed by storage and disposal.

i wouldnt try to convince anyone on what we are doing--let them spend thier money as they like,i like to have more to spend hahaha.
some just dont get it.

http://nlquery.epa.gov/epasearch/epasea ... &GO=SEARCH

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=an ... =&gs_rfai=

theres a couple more to do your studing with

as for the inert ingredients--they do have something to do with how the active ingredient degrades over time....some like these products are nothing more than a clay to keep the fipronil stable and active for much longer than 28 days like frontline...i have found reserch that states it is active in the skin glands for 56 days----twice as long as frontline....i cant find it right now to post though

this stuff --fipronil--has been used much longer on termites than for dogs.i think 12 years longer.
