I was just wondering what size shot people use and out of what gauge shot gun. I was also wondering the range that the shot had and please be honest.

i like to use 6's in my 20 guage but will use 7 1/2's if thats all i have. most of my shots are within 25 yards. i dont feel comfortable going out any farther than that. but we were hunting last weekend and my uncle shot at a rabbit running straight away and missed it the first time and for some reason shot again and hit it this time. i just about crapped when i saw that rabbit flip. we stepped it off at 44 steps  ...longest shot ive ever seen. we skinned that rabbit out later and it had been hit with one pellet in the back of the head. he got lucky but i definately wouldnt take a shot like that...keith

I use a 20 ga. with 6 or 7½ shot. I like to get the high brass loads that carry a velocity of 1200 to 1300 fps. My rabbit gun has a mod. choke so with these loads if I get a clear shot at say 40 yds. I can take it with confidence with this load. Now my confidence in my aiming abillities... that's another story..lol.. CHH

I use 8 shot rabbits just seem to roll right over when there hit. More chance of hitting em with that shot since we have a case of it from dove season thats what im using.

I like 4 and 5 shot less bb's to pck out of the rabbit and easyer to find. don't matter to me if its a 410 ,28 or 20 gauge.

My favorite rabbit gun is a single shot twelve guage with a modified choke. I use low brass 7 1/2s because of the reduced recoil. They work great. Most of my shots are thirty yards or less. They do just enough damage to kill the rabbit and there are very few shot to pick out of the meat.
