Flabslab:
I just found this post or I would have answered earlier,I am glad your wife may be getting to the point where it is ok the dog is with someone else. However my answer would have been quite a bit different than some of the others. If all it takes to keep your wife happy is keeping one cull in the kennel then by all means do it.Obviously you cant do that with a bunch but one dog just simply doesnt cost that much to feed and kennel. in the long run you will be better off trying to keep the wife happy. I am blessed that I have a girl that is ok with whatever I want to do regarding hunting and dogs. She has friends whose husbands spend a lot of time raising hell out in the bars etc.Makes me look like a prince. lol.For the guys who talk about keeping their wives away etc.I just simply dont understand.Mine used to run dogs with me a bunch and even deerhunt too. However since I bought her these dang sharpeis she doesnt fool with beagles as much.Probably the biggest loss my kennel has ever had.Just my 2 cents worth.

you need to increase the amount of dogs in your kennel to the point where they can't keep track of them all then getting another dog you really like she wouldn't know the difference same as getting rid of one. when she asks what are you doing with all those dogs just tell her its for the breeding program. but remember this method is for professionals only!! lol

Flabslab,
Your post brings back some memories! LOL I once had to buy back a hound that I sold because of the same situation! Needless to say, it cost me more $$ to buy him back than I sold him for. That was 6 years ago and he is still around today! Here is what I do now, one of my running buddies(which my wife likes) will take the ones that I have culled for a while. Generally after a few months of the hound being gone (staying at Jims) the attachment for her diminishes. At that point, I will have him go ahead and move the dog. It may be a little devious, but it saves a LOT of heartache.

LOL...Newdog. I see you found this message board. Friend, I'm just thrilled to death that you like her. As I told you before, you did me a favor, and I did you one. We both gained. I'm REALLY looking forward to next Saturday and getting out with you and Paul. We might not see many bunnies, but we'll sure have fun. I'll be bringing Glory's papers with me and will officially sign her over to you then. Till then, enjoy! Oh, and I hope you still consider me a friend when this gets into your blood and you end up with 10 hounds.

HAVE ANOTHER LITTER ASAP!
I'm the wife and Beagler in this home too. Everyone here, including the kids and grandparents, knows the rules....there is only ONE "Forever No Questions Asked" Beagle in this home and it is our foundation bitch Honey. The rest have to earn their keep and many will be placed in pet homes when their showing/breeding days are over. They are all treated like gold while they are here and they are all placed with the utmost care and consideration.
The fact is simply that no kennel can keep them all and still compete, whether you are field or show. If you keep them all you will QUICKLY become an old age home for dogs and age out of your sport.

I apologize.I thought I was pm'ing that to you.Since I posted it on the board I will explain my question so you or anyone else wont get the wrong idea because I see where it could be misinterpreted easily.I like the looks of your hounds very much..I am always on the lookout for dogs with good conformation.I might be interested in a female at some point but dont want to lose anything in the hunt dept.I did not mean my question as any kind of slight on your dogs but as a compliment on their looks.Thanks.
