Sold dogs now buyer want to return??

First off I would need to know what you said about the dogs to see if there was a breach of your verbal contract. The other side of the coin is that the purchaser also agreed to your verbal contract when he paid you the money and took the dogs. I would NEVER make a statement that any of my dogs are trash proof, period, even if they have never ran one or if I have broke them from trash. I can only tell a perspective buyer what I have seen them do and guarantee that. I would also NEVER give a trial period especially during open season but would show the perspective buyer the dog in the field as much as they wanted to see but when they laid that hard cold cash down on the table it would be with the understanding that they are taking the dog just as they took their spouse. For better or worse until death do you part. In your case if you love the dogs I would maybe buy them back but I would NOT refund the entire purchase price UNLESS the dogs were NOT as you said.

Thanks for the input guys it helps me understand alittle better I guess.I had shipped the hounds on my coin for x# of $$ not a problem now the fellow did pay half of the total which was ok but told me the other half was on the way the very next day,but nothing.I never did say at anytime the hounds were trash proof I am not a fool ,what I said was they have never run deer and they didn't in the 3 years I owned them thats it,I told it the best I could as to what kind of hounds they were good and bad and did say if they were not as I said I would return his money I have no problem with that but he didn't yet tell me they were any different than I said and he won't phone me just an e-mail here and there???P.S this is Dan. Sounds like the guy wanted to hunt them and send them back to ya now that he is done. He just wanted to try them out.

Good to hear you haven't run yourself to death chasing hare this year. I wouldn't worry about the problem. If you can rest easy then you did nothing wrong and if he ruined them than that is his choice.

There is no way an honest beagler would want to return dogs after the season. You owe him nothing in my opinion.

Well got a reply today from my buyer dude,this is how it went.Would like to try them a little longer before I make a decision lol. season is done in 2 weeks lol.My decision is made for sure,he got 2 nice hounds and now got to pay me the rest for them,what a hommer.CH

now he emails you telling you how much he likes them,,,,,,then he emails you telling you they run deer,,,,,,now he emails you telling you he wants to try them longer,,,,,sounds like he dont know what he wants,,,,if i was you which im not,,,id email him back telling him trial is OVER,,,and demand the rest of your money,,,,,,there is no reason it should take any man 2 freaking months to decide if he wants dogs,,,,,,he should of decided in 2 weeks if they were wanting or not,,,,,,get the rest of your money and forget him,,,,,,,,,

If I was a betting man, I would bet you will never see your dogs or the rest of your money. There are a lot of folks who put paying for dogs they bought on credit the bottom of their list. I personally never sell a dog without recieving the full amount of cash at the time of the purchase. There are some honest folks out there but that fellow sure doesn't sound like one of them.

Do you have your hounds tattoo'ed or micro-chipped?
When I went to Lesage WV. to get my hounds back, the police there told me, if I didn't have them permanent markings or chipped to prove ownership, Mr. Roach could call them on me.
Once your hounds leave you, you have to be able to prove they are yours...

Yep, thats exactly why, when ever a hound leaves my possession for any reason they will have been paid for in full. I've taken a beating several times letting dogs out on trial with a down payment only. Try getting your money when the dog out on trial gets lost or ran over and killed when in their possession. I got broke of that when I sold my last coon hounds. I let a $1500.00 male out on trial one Wednesday when I was out of town. The guy had been by several times talking about buying the dog so he came by and my wife called saying he wanted to try the dog for a couple nights and would be here Saturday with the dog or money. The guy came back Friday night and brought the dog back, flatter than a pancake after being run over by a truck.

i always put a time limit on trial periods so this dosen't happen its usually one week
