I use Rocky snake boot or Rocky wildcat.The Rocky wildcat are about 5 or 6 year old. I just got the snake boot about 3 month ago, I beleave the snake boots fill better on than my wildcat.

Most cheap rubber boots will pull socks down. I wear Lacrosse burlys and they are great. Tom Gross

I may be giving up a secrete, but with the invention of velcro, there's never any reason you should loose your socks.

A English friend of mine, told me how a German prisoner in the war had shown him how, they were instructed to wrap their feet for marching and too pervent soreness. If any were found to of become unfit or complaining of raw feet, it was then known they were not wraping their feet properly, and they were then punished...

The best way to make a good comfortable pair of boots last longest, is to have hounds that do the hunting for you.
We are simply the followers, hounds do the hunting...

When it comes to rubber boots it is worth the money to get Lacrosse( I own) or Muck (my boss the wife owns). I use to go cheap, but no more. Just so much more comfortable. As far as other boots the Rockys in the codura are hard to beat, light, waterproof and they hold up.

Merry Christmas

This post couldn't have come at a better time for me. I'm planning on going shopping for a pair of work boots this week.

First off. How do the burlys hold up to briars?

Second , here's my experience with boots.

Wolverine... JUNK I've had two pairs, and wouldn't wear another if you gave them too me. I had a friend tell me when I got the first pair that they fall apart. And darned if he wasn't right. The second pair was marketed through CAT. Same thing, they last two or three months before something breaks or comes off of them.
Timberland... I used to wear these about ten years ago. Then the price went up,quality went down. Mostly I find them uncomfortable now. The soles seem to wear quickly for me.
New Chippewa.. I think they are made by Justin. My only complaint is that they aren't waterproof. I bought two pairs at the same time. Loggers boots. One insulated the other plain. They held up very well. Who ever heard of a logger who doesn't get his feet wet?
Rocky.. Good stuff. I have a pair of Bear claws on my feet right now. Very comfortable. No complaints.

I've heard good things about Danner. Seems to me the only drawback is the price. They seem to be twenty to fifty bucks more than rest. I've heard good things about Redwings too. I was looking for a pair when I found the Chippewas. I can't find stores that carry them in styles that I want.

I'm gonna buy from Rocky, Danner or Redwing. Whatever I can find that feels good.
I was looking into a pair of burlys for hunting, just because of the scent issue. Am curious how they hold up to briars. Might get a pair next year.

I will not ever get another pair of Redwings. I hate to say it, but I don't think they hold up anymore. I was a diehard Redwing fan, but the last two pairs I purchased fell apart at the soles after about 6 months. Very disappointed I was. Not cheap either.

I love my lacrosse alpha-burly's 800 grams they are warm easy to walk in and get off and on your feet , just make sure you turn down the tops when you remove your boots so they will dry out from the moisture from your feet

My experience and I am hard on boots and have picky feet.

Rocky- Over priced junk. I bought three pair of "Pro Hunters" and all leaked and didn't hold up at all. It got to the point that the store where they were purchased started to be a pain in returning them. Never again.

Redwing- I have to wear steel toe boots at work. My feet are narrow and boney. All I ever heard was you need a pair of Redwing's. I bought a pair, couldn't stand to wear them as they hurt my feet to much to make it through a twelve hour shift.

LaCrosse Burly- Good boot for wet stuff. Hard to get off and will work on the socks some. Will not hold up to briars or hunting in the brush. They are just rubber and not made to withstand it.

Wolverine- Junk, Junk, Junk

Carolina- Not bad for the money held up decent. Not waterproof.

I finally found the ones for me. They are made by hunters for hunters and I can wear them all day and all night. Wick Frog legs with the Muck boot are the best in my opinion. The tops are waterproof and briarproof. I hunt beagles and coondogs, so that is a plus. You can stand in a creek for several minutes and it will not leak through. They are tuff and durable and backed up by Wick's. Good people to do business with. The muck boot is super comfortable, they have a black lined and orange lined boot, the orange are suppose to be the warmer of the two. I find both pretty warm, as I have both kinds. The muck is much more durable in the bad stuff then regular rubber boots and they come off much easier. For now and for the money I am sticking with Froglegs with Mucks!

I truely don't now what the best boot for walking is but if I were in the market I think I'd ask Nancy Sinatra. I remember many, many years ago she had it all figured out and even sang their praises of "These boots are made for walkin." Can't remember if I ever heard the brand of boots but I do remember they must of been some goodins as they could even walk all over you.
