black over green is my choice. I have and do use both. But if black is available, I think it is best for reading long term.

Tatoo at 8 weeks old or sooner and black ink will be your best color, as it doesn't fade as much!

A good black tatoo will last the life of the dog. It is placed in the center of the ear and shouldn't be affected by briars.

The younger the better as the tatoo will enlarge as the ear grows. Also the ear is not as thick and probably pain is less. If done right it will last forever, the key is to get enough ink in the tatoo. I waste more ink than I need but it gets the job done. IMO only.

Which is better: liquid, rollon, or paste? I'm having problems with the roll on.

I use the paste. Rub it in the tattoo as long as you can. You only have one shot at it so the more ink you get in the pin holes the better.

i use the microchips the vet said they have stopped doing tattoos since people will mutilate the dogs ear if they steal it so u can't prove it was your dog.

Chips are made to be located with hand held scanners....

You can buy these scanners... So what keeps someone from buying one and using it to make sure dogs don't have chips?

However, chips are good in one since too... Pounds scan dogs coming in to see if they have chips...

i have... but...

Post by xdawg »

but...

i have no clue about it... also, i'd be more interested in breeding something like the back of the ear... not the inside but the outside(back)

can this be done? if so, could you explain the process alittle?
