my suggestion:

some formats allow the dogs to wear a "tracking collar" and leave the receiver in the truck at field trials and the handler can use it after the trial is over... why not let guys do the same with "shock collars"? let the dogs wear them and have the remotes either in the truck or pick someone from the cast or gallery to carry them along with the antennaes off until the proper time to use them.

I dont mind the tracking collars because I even put one on my dog when im hunting at another club and away from home. Shocking collars are a total different story in my book. I run a shock collar on all my dogs young or old when I am just running but I dont believe they should be allowed to be worn at ANY trial. In my opinion, if a dog isnt ready for a trial it shouldnt be entered.

A shock collar is a BAD idea.A collar wise dog will know when the collar is on or off.If you still need a collar at a trial it means you don't trust your hound on trash or it wont handle without it.

You can fool a dog into thinking a tracking unit is a shock collar. I have no doubt this works ;)

Take care,

being ready for a trial has absolutely nothing to do with wearing a shock collar. it would be used at the END of a trial to help get in hardheaded dogs. not a whole lot different than using a tracker to "rundown" your dog in my opinion. i guess if you guys are really serious about a new and better format, i would listen to people and let them vote (yep... really vote) on things like that... otherwise you'll just have another format with another registry... offering the same old thing. i bet you would draw a lot more people if their votes counted for something. just my 2 cents but im just a dumb gunhunter who doesnt trial much... probably a lot of guys like me who would think about doing a bit of trialing if it really was something different.

i do wish you guys goodluck with your project. it will be a long road and take a lot of work to make this better than the "other" formats. i hope you pick and choose wisely who you put in charge. good luck  .

In my opinion, thats one of the benifits of UKC taking the format. UKC will be in charge and not have a select few off the street in power positions that are only in them for personal gain plus all them positions arent needed anyway.
