Electronic Collars - Will they help?

Post by Caribou »

I will try to make a long story short. We like to go horseback riding in the wilderness with our Beagles. Last year (3 and 1 years old) they started chasing deer and each trip they returned later. Our last riding trip they were gone 9 days! We had given them up for lost and my brother who introduced us to Beagles, gave us his since they were not home as much as they would liked to have been with him. He is 7. The night we got home with him they notified us that the other 2 were found about a mile from where they took off. Now we have 3. A few weeks later we were out cutting wood when the original 2 took off again and treed a Cougar! They were gone for 24 hours that time. We love all three of these Beagles and don't want to change our life style which includes taking them camping and horseback riding. Are we too late to train them with a electronic collar? Any other ideas? Help!!!

you can stop them with e-collar the second they start running whatever you do not want them to run. you may have to do it each time you go for a while because they do have the natural desire to hunt.

There are lots of messages on this board about use of ecollars and beagles. Check them out and you will know what you have to do.
