Fast dogs
Looks like slow rabbits to me. lol
I would say the top picture is a Pointer & a Greyhound. I know some boys in Augusta that use a live rabbit in the off season to keep the racing hounds in shape & rabbit crazy. They kept a pointer to help find the rabbit when it squatted sometimes when it got tired. Greyhounds run by sight & don't use scent so if the rabbit hunkers down they would turn the pointer loose & he would point, then flush the bunny for the sight chasers. Not sure that is what happened in the picture but that was their game. They also knew some Mexicans that use to catch Jacks out of stacked oil piping & haul to them once a year. I tried to get hooked up & buy a couple of them but never did, I didn't figure they would live in my area or they would be here, but man what a race it would be for a while.

The top picture is likely two greyhounds. I have done lure coursing with my beagles (a joke, they don't chase plastic bags on a motorized string like a sighthound, too smart) so know a few sighthound people. The salukis run in the open, can't handle rough terrain, rips them to shreds. Greyhounds would be the same- short distance, wide open, sprinting. So a beagle could flush, sighthound would catch and kill. It is awesome to watch a sighthound in full flight.

John, those hare like to stay in the heavy cover so you don't get many sight chases, but once in a while these old slow dogs of ours stumble on to one and give it a scare. We do get some sight chases on cottontails on the snow, if you can get them to stay up and run.
It's starting to cool off up here now. I can't wait!
