Branko's Big Maxie....9 years old.
Once upon a time, a man asked a girl " Will you marry me?" The girl said " NO." and the guy lived happily ever after and ran his dogs as much as he wanted to.

Thankyou everyone for entering your hounds!! The competition is now closed and I will spend today narrowing the field down to just five Beagles ( :( anyone want my job?). It is going to be very hard to pick just five out of the good lookers posted and I hope that you all understand that just because your dog doesn't get picked does not mean I didn't like it. This entry is like judging a national specialty show....lots of really nice dogs but you can only pick a few. I have much more empathy for judges after playing one on the internet ;)

Results to be posted later today!

.......after clicking back and forth and back and forth through 10 pages of good looking and very worthy hounds I had to finally say enough is enough and make my picks. They are as follows:

1st Place:UKC CCH Rosies Just By Chance
Owner: Crewse-N Beagles
Image

This is a beautiful animal. He has a lovely head and neck flowing into nicely laid back shoulders. His chest is deep and he has plenty of bone. Nice angles front and rear, beautiful feet, and a very nice tailset. To nitpick I would like more prosternum in front and a fuller brush on his tail. He is one fine looking hound that I would certainly consider using on my own bitches.

2nd Place:Grand Rabbit/Grand Bench Champion Fulks Ace
Owners: Frank and Jonathon Fulks
Image
Here is another gorgeous dog. He appears to have nice angles front and rear, a great tailset, excellent depth of chest and a nice prosternum. He looks in prime condition physically & mentally and ready to get the job done already.

Third Place: Perkins Run-n-Gun Dream On
Owner: Lynn Perkins
Image
I love a rugged bitch and this girl looks like she can bring home the bacon and fry it up in the pan. She has nice angles front and rear. She has a nice, deep chest and a super prosternum. She has a nice long neck and a lovely head and earset. Her back is short and strong and her ribs look well sprung. Her bone looks adequate and her feet are okay. Very nice tailset and brush. If her temperment matches her looks she can come live in my kennel anytime ;)

4th Place: Sandy Valley Radar
Owner: Stacy Marra
Image
A good looking, well balanced Beagle. Nice angles, chest, bone. A little "stuffy" in front (short neck) but overall a fine boy.

NBQ: RR's Black Mount Chief
Owner: Sam and Lyn Ricker
Image
This pup is not quite yet a year old. I think with some maturation and some expert grooming (lol) he is going to be one fine Beagle. Lovely expression.

Veterans: 1st Place:
Surber's SC Daisy
Age: 7 yrs.
Owner:Poormans Kennel
James Parker
Image

This bitch has certainly earned her keep. Treat her well. Nuff said.

2nd Place: Montgomery's Shorty
Owner: Montgomery Tony
Image

A nice dog that possesses all the qualities of the winners above as well as the added bonus of keeping his looks into seniorhood. He deserves the good life now.

And last but not least THE PUPPIES!
Puppy 1st Place goes to:
Castlegales Risa on the Road
18 week bitch
Owner:Carolyn Milne
Image
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Her kennel is ready and waiting here at Honey Pot! ;)

2nd Place Puppy: Crewse-N Lug Nut
Owner: Crewse-N Beagles
Image
Ya'all know what I like by now I would think...and this puppy has it. In spades.

There were so many Beagles I easily could have picked...in a few instances it came down to remembering that the winners are to be put in the magazine so the picture needs to look okay in print...so if there was a tie and one picture showed the dog better (and stacking is a big part of that) I picked the better picture representation for American Beagler.....My number two dog ALMOST lost his place on the list because I am not too sure how that picture is going to reproduce....I hope it comes out nicely as he was just too deserving to ignore. ;)

On the veterans, as a woman who has given birth twice, I just HAD to go with the bitch. The stud dog gets the better end of that deal, give the break to the old girl for once, lol. Just looking at her makes me want to baby her.

We have to hand it to you Honeypot you had a very difficult task, there was a lot of hounds on here that were very good looking and well presented. I for one am glad I didn't do the judging on this. Thank you for the complement!

Thank you honey pot. Daisy does get babied, but will still run a bunny or two. When that picture was taken she was two weeks a mama.
