I am giving $13.25 for a 50 lb bag of Diamond Maintence, and $13.00/50lbs for the Diamond high Energy. I like it and the dogs do well on it.

I've fed Kasco for a couple years now with good results. I feed the mini chunks 26%protein 15% fat. They also have a high energy mix 30%/20% i think, but haven't found it necessary to switch. Shiny coats and bright eyes, nice firm stool.

Cannot find it in my area now I'm trying different feeds but the best I have ever used is Diamond High Energy it took less, had less stool and the dogs had a nice coat and stayed in shape with a lot of energy. I also like the PMI when I could get it, but cannot get it either when I feed 50 lbs of ol Roy I clean up 70 lbs of stool. Sunshine with lamb and rice is good but not as good as Diamond.

Bev, It has been almost 3 weeks since I switched my bitch from 24/20 to the 26/18. Noticed today that she is starting to put some weight back on. It is $3 a bag higher but looks like it is worth it.

I have used Purina and found it to be a poor choice compared to Diamond or Kasco foods. With the Diamond, I have had no trouble switching from lower protein to higher when needed. Tony

Tnbeagleman, PMI & Old Roy are both made locally here at Doanes Mills, along with about 30 other brands of feeds.

purina pro plan performance poor???

Post by dosgris »

i have used purina pro plan performance for my lab and beagles for the last couple of years and i thought i was happy with it until i read y'alls posts. i am paying about 34 dollars for 40 pounds, and i tried a food called enhance, once because the numbers on the bag were similar, and the cost was 15 dollars for 40 pounds. purina pro performance is 30-20 and the enhance is 27-17. the dogs seemed to do better and their output was better on the purina pro performance. the double m where i buy my food advertises diamond, so i will certainly price it. my 4 month old puppy doesn't seem to do as well on the purina as the others, so maybe i will try it on her, the diamond that is. wow, if i hadn't read this i wouldn't have known i wasn't happy/

Feed Purina

I switched to Purina One sveral years ago when I had a dog with skin problems. He cleared up real soon. Have feed it ever since. Dogs look good, shiney coats and less stool to clean up.

Mo beagles, I haven't checked this thread in a while. Glad to hear your female is doing better! Might take her a while to rebound then you can fiddle with it and figure out how much of the Diamond green bag it takes to maintain her weight.

dog food

Post by mybeagles »

I use Diamond Premium Adult (26/18)and am very satisfied. I was feeding Tradition(26/18)and getting loose stool from one bag to the next. When I switched I had to cut back amount of food as dogs were putting on weight quick. I have small beagles and one is very picky, went through 4 different brands and she eats Diamond Premium Adult the best. Better than Diamonds 30/20 blend. Unless your feeding big dogs or 10+ beagles the difference in cost was about $3 a month.
