Lost One This Week....

Post by Briarhoppers »

Been a hard week. I had a young promising hound killed this week - hit by a car. I feel terrible about it, but at least it happened while she was doing what she loved!

I know we take risks each time we set the hounds on the ground. And a good day is any day we leave the field w/ a full dog box. But I also know that all too often something happens to our hunting buddies.

How many of you have lost a hound while running?

I LOST A GOOD ACE IN THE HOLE BREED MALE ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO WHILE I WAS RUNNING. I THINK THAT THE YOTES GOT HIM. IT SUCKS TO LOSE A PROMISING DOG AND A SHOCK COLLOR IN THE SAME NIGHT.

I know how you feel, in Feb. 2004 I lost two in one day, one got killed in an illegal set conabear trap and the other one got hit by a semi while trying to come back to me. Both were about 2 1/2 years old with great promise. Took a while to get over that one. Sorry for your loss. Hare

i lost my first beagle i ever bought last feb. she was 10 years old and i guess she died of a heart attack. i bought her when she was a pup. we had been running for about 4 hours when i noticed she was missing. got to looking around and we found her in opening of a cutover. i guess it was luck we found her body.
