Do I need to give my dogs lyme shots if everytime out running they have 1-3 ticks on them. I can't see the ticks until it gets very big. Is 1-3 ticks a big problem? I have heard some people told me that when they say they have ticks problem is when their dog is covered with ticks. What do you guys think?

Lyme vaccine is not 100% effective. Your dog can still get Lyme disease even with the vaccine. You could be using tick prevention (frontline/advantix) which should keep the ticks from attaching. They can't transmit lyme without attaching to the dog. There are some good collars, like PREVENTIC and TICK ARREST, but I don't like too much stuff around my dogs' necks.
You will probably never see the deer tick that gives your dog lyme disease. My Ruger got it (Lyme) at 13 months old and WE NEVER found any ticks on him!!! EVER! The deer tick bites, does its deadly duty and drops off. A very large adult deer tick is no larger than a seasame seed. A nymph (the ones that usually give us lyme) is no bigger than the period at the end of this sentence.
I do vaccinate for lyme. Why? Because I figure if it only works 1/2 the time, that is 1/2 my chances for getting lyme disease.
