Well, I don't own any Boldstrokes & actually have never seen one in the field (that I knew was a Boldstrokes anyway) but I just had to get on this thread because its rare that an argument breaks out that has nothing to do with me. lol
I have met Mark at a truck stop one time as we were meeting the same guy on another deal & I thought he was a heckuva nice guy. I can tell you from experiance Mark, you won't have to worry about any of the negative babblers coming to hunt with you because most of them don't hunt enough to know what a dog is, I don't care who the breeder is or how many years they been breeding them, ain't no line throws all super dogs or there would only be one line by now because everybody would have surely caught on, well almost everybody. Isn't it great that we got something to do when it is to hot to hunt or romance, we can argue about these old dogs.

lonewolf,
I've been sitting back reading this stuff and have to just shake my head. The game is the same with this Gill fella and his hounds as it is with my friend and his line (who I won't mention so all the hate mongerers can start in again). What a shame that people can carry around such ill feelings about others to the point of rotten name calling and bashing. Pitiful! You sure do get to size folks up in a hurry by what they say about others.

I don't have to go back and read anything as I have been on this board for quite a long time. For those who read my post and didn't see the SARCASM I guess you missed the point. I don't recall anything being asked about Gill Davis in the original question and I know quite well that his name is NOT Gill Boldstroke. To bad others don't know as much. The guy asked a question about the characteristics of a line bred Boldstroke hound and I would assume that the best ones to answer would be the ones raising them now or the ones who have seen them in action since being taken over by the NC guys. I too would like to have seen some more input on the Boldstroke style and less of the Gill style.

NYH......Winners always have bullseyes. If you're a nobody......then nobody knows to hate ya, but once you have accomplished what these guys have, they are bound to make a few people jealous.

I also think the internet makes people more froggy....

Best to you all,

Neither.......Gill is the bullsh_t master......don't fall for it lonewolf! There have been many a young beagler fall for Gill's crap. Granted there are probably some good dogs out of this line but don't buy them on what he says. The guys from NC may be decent guys but Gill is a con artist! That's a fact. I've never seen someone blow so much smoke.

I don't remember anyone posting that comment on here. Looks to me like your doing some bashing

These guys bought the Boldstroke line because they like them, but when they bought the name they also have Gill as extra baggage. Most of the people that have seen the Boldstroke run saw them under Gill, not Mark and pwill. So that is what they are commenting on. Mark and pwill both said they aren't selling a lot of pups because they want to see what they are producing and I have to congratulate them for that.
No one even mention Gill until he posted.
The pups that I and some of friends got that were 100% Boldstroke directly from Gill, I did not like and my friends did not like. There is only left between us and he is a house pet.
I am sure that if Lance, bullboy, and I really wanted to bash Gill on here we could, we all fell for Gill's BS and hype.
Mark and pwill I wish you guys the best and some day I hope to run with you guys.

I've never seen a Boldstroke go, so I have a much to say about the line. Just two observations of reading this thread and others about the Boldstrokes over the years.
1. Seems the problem is more over Gill than the Boldstrokes. Gill is passionate about his line and some don't respond to well to his claims and boasting and long-winded posts over the years. Seems some are more focused on the man than the hounds.
2. In evey sport when a player, coach, team, etc. rises to a point of recognition there are always going to be those that love them and others that hate them. Think about the Yankees, Jeff Gordon, Brankos, etc. Love 'em or hate 'em...part of having a recognized line, sad but true.

First off I don't have anything againt the Boldstroke dogs or any beagle for that matter. I like em all! But in my opinion, Gill Davis doesn't belong in the same sentence as Branko Krpan. The boldstrokes as a bloodline hasn't accomplished anything near what the Branko bloodline has, so you need to quit talking all that crap about greatness. Gill gets on here rambling on and on and if you people believe them stories he tells........your NUTS. I heard the same sh_t years ago. The man flat out LIED on the Beagles Unlimited board a few years ago and because of that.....I have a problem with him.

I'm not a liar and I don't like liars.....if you all want to stand behind a liar then thats your problem.

All you people considering a Boldstroke bred hound, go watch em' run, you may very well like them.... I sure did and that was 12 yrs ago.... But because Gill bred a HYPED UP..unproven male (Hurrican Mack) to an old female that he wouldn't even admit to breeding......I got a cull. I surely know they all don't turn out great but listening to Gills stories sure would make you think the Boldstrokes do.

Lance, Man you need to get over it, you got a bad dog, OK .....we all have at some point. Not every pup turns out. Not saying what you stated about Gill is false or anything but come on that was 12 YEARS ago...
As far as greatness I personally don`t think the Branko records is so great, based on how many dogs they produce in a single year. Ratios of pups verses greatness is probably not any better than most lines , they just get alot of exposure due to the number of pups. There are some great dogs out of Branko and I hold nothing against them, Heck I own one.
I stand behind the foundation of what Gil has done with this line, WE are building on that and yes there have been some great dogs out of this line and there will be somemore very soon, with any luck LOL.
The line is what it is , we run hard ,train hard, and we trial some , and more time than not the Boldstroke line places very high at the trials we attend, in LP and UKC. They don`t win all the time but they win and they beat some very well respected dogs.

I like what you said.. Go see them run... choose for yourself...hopefully I can run with you oneday and show you what we are all about.

Thnaks Paul

Can't believe I read all the pages of this thread, LOL....

I will say this.....not too long ago Davis was posting on here with one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel, now he is Dog The Bounty Hunter and also running a huge farm? LOL....this is better than Days Of Our Lives.....   I think it's Davis' on and on ramblings that ruffle folks' feathers more than any hound could.

I have personally met Paul Williford, Mark & Chris Overcash and you'll be hard pressed to find any better people. Period. They have always been courteous, friendly and sincere to me and thats a fact jack! ;) I'd pick up my shotgun and go hunting with those guys any day! I;m sure any of those guys would be glad to have you stop by and see their stock run....you just might like what you see..... :)

lance and to all that has gotton culls im real sorry ya got one i remember back in the 80s when i went and talked to FRANK REESE the breeder of the GAY bloodline sit and watched and heard some fine hounds that day from the porch of his house . well i ended up bringing two pups home that was 200 dollars a pup at that time which was alot of money at that time one turned out to be a true cull the other was super good dog my first two of the gay line well i could have held a grudge and bad mouthed all dogs from that line but i like what i seen and heard so i went and got a couple more then i had a good pack of rabbit dogs. i got out of it in the late 90s then a few years later i wanted some more dogs so i researched and found what i liked . im sure glad you guys have found what ya like now because it sure is a great thing to take a dog to the woods that ya truly love with all ya heart and watch it feed it water it and give the vacinations and dewormer makes ya smile while ya taking care of them or it does me anyways then when ya take them out and put them in the nastiest briars ya can find and they look at ya with there lil smile on there face as to say watch me get this bunny of his butt and run it for ya pal.. come run all if and when ya get a chance or get this way i will be more than glad to hook ya up with some bbq and chicken from nc make ya tongue slap ya forhead lol yall take care mark
