You know what gets me is this:
Pwill and Mark has invited anyone who wants to see them Strokes run to come to NC and watch. FOr all of you that bad mouth them, why not just go to NC and watch for a day or two.
I've met Mark and he is one heck of a nice guy and Pwill always seemed the same on the chat rooms and I have friends that have met Pwill.
So some of you have a beef with GIll. So what. Take that up with Gill. Apparently these two guys are perfectly happy with the Strokes so apparently Gill didn't shoot them to much BS.
Tell me this. Have you ever known a beagler that wasn't full of BS? lol I think the trial records and game bags is proof enough of this line.
YOu may not like them but I don't like hare dogs and I don't like LP dogs and I don't like brace dogs but if I buy a dog out of these type lines, it's my fault that it didn't turn out for my pack. IF you buy a dog out of a line you know nothing about, be a man and take the blame.
Now, quit bitching and go to NC and watch them run for yourself.

I just listened to a female 8 month old pup out of Musket II run well in a pack of 3 older gyps in an all girl run on Sunday AM. She held her own with 3 males on Saturday mopping up some 20 second and longer checks. I A/V tape some runs and watch them later so I can really hear what went on. My little boldstroke was a factor in an hour long run. She also ran solo last night just to see if she could do it alone. She passed the test by jumping and circling a young rabbit in a honeysuckle thicket in 90 degree North Carolina heat. I got her from pwill last year and will buy another. I have judged Rebel and one other Boldstroke in 3 different Little Pack casts. I cannot remember the females name but they won each cast on good hard runs with some stiff competition. I like what I have seen.

lonewolf I have a dog with a Boldstrokes name that came from Gill and I have a female named Patsy. A friend bred his female to Musket to get her. Both of these are good dogs and I really like them.

pwill I agree with you 100%. If you look at my dog Boldstrokes Little Yank's pedigree on my website ( http://www.freewebs.com/rising_moon_kennel/ )it would lead you to believe that he didn't come from Gill. He did and Gill bred him. His pedigree is only 1/4 Boldstroke, not exactly what Gill preaches about line breeding. The best dogs that I have seen have had an outcross, not 100% Boldstroke. Of all the dogs you got from Gill how many of them had outcrosses? Are your best dogs (not counting Musket) outcrosses or 100% Boldstroke?
As far as me putting Boldstroke name on my dog's name I had no choice. Gill wrote the Boldstroke name on the puppy papers.
I bred these two dogs and so far I have like what I have seen and heard. Daustin that posted on here has a pup from me.
My pups that I keep will not have the Boldstroke name but Rising Moon name.
I am not putting down your guy's dogs. I believe I would like them if they run like the two outcrosses that I have. I hope to be able to get together with you guys some day and run. I think we would have a good time.
My previous remark was not meant toward you guys or your dogs.

And for the ones that have Boldstrokes and don`t like them, don`t breed them and advertise the Boldstroke name....let them die out and go away.Don`t outcross them and put the Boldstroke name first.....name them something else .maybe Branko LOL...there sure is enough of that out there

Hello Gill,
Nice to here you are still active in the hounds. Guys don't bash these hounds until you see them run. You are hearing about some of the young dogs doing good things and showing promise. When they hit the 3 an 4 year old age they really show and can do it all day long.
Another nice thing is they seem to be crossing real well at least from the young dog aspect of it really don't have anything old enough to say for sure. All I'm saying is don't bash the hounds because of Gill, and if you go watch the hounds you won't bash Gill.
There is good and bad in every line and it isn't far to judge the hole on a count of one, thats in anything. So if you are thinking about going with a hound don't listen to the board take Mark and PWill up on there offer and go watch a few of them run.

i agree with ptman as far for breeding rebel has sailorboy as a out cross along with buffalo bob has norther tracker and these are the dogs gill talks about when people start talking about trialing hmmm as for me breeding i only have one left lol and i have said before she has some traits that you just love and a couple that you could do with out but i don't think you can tell us not to breed our dogs do you. do you think gill only bred best to best who knows maybe akc does but i doubt it what about streak never ran a rabbitt till he was 8 so don't tell me what i can and can't do in my kennel this bitch isen't worthy of breeding i said in the beginning i wasen't going to comment but you guys just can't leave it alone this has been all talked about before and this is what happens.as for putting the name boldstroke on them isen't that what gill wanted i think it is
Bullboy, I think you need to go back and read what I wrote. I never told anybody what to do in their kennel, I just said if you don`t like them don`t breed them as a general statement. If that statement fits you then I`m sorry. It only makes sense, if they ain`t any good why breed? The other part was don`t outcross a Boldstroke you don`t like and call them Boldstrokes to sell pups. I really don`t care what people do but I sure don`t like them running down something then turning it around so they can make a profit. I`m glad you have what you have and that you saw and owned some Boldstrokes. I`m sorry you didn`t like them. Thats fine with me but you haven`t seen what we have here. We have dogs that have every few outcrosses and they do just fine, but you are right Rebel and Bill are outcrosses and are doing every well.As far as Streak well he was penned up for most of his life and yes at 7 years old I got him and yes he is running rabbits now at 8 years old. It`s in his blood......LOL.
Do I think Gil bred his best to his best.....yes and he probably bred some that weren`t his best but most turn out, maybe not world beaters but solid dogs..but we are breeding our best to our best only having a few litters a year.We are building on what is out there, trying to make a better dog for us and if someone else likes them fine, if not fine, I`m not in this to make money so if I never sell another pup ...SO WHAT...Do you STILL want to buy Streak? Oh thats right he`s not for sale...
I guess it`s safe to say that BULLBOY DOES NOT LIKE BOLDSTROKE DOGS,,,,ok lets move on...
PZTRAILMAN, I`m glad you like what you have, I know about what your dog has in its pedigree, but I thought it had more than 1/4 Boldstroke....As far as naming them what you want I think that great...I know in the past that Gil wanted to keep the name on the dogs,I see his point but when it`s your dog it`s your dog name it what you want...all I was saying is don`t call a dog Boldstroke because it has one cross in it just to sell a pup, and that goes for any line, Branko is a prime example...One cross with Branko in it and you now have a Branko dog, you see it all the time.
I see some people on here that run the dogs down but still like to advertise the Boldstroke name when it comes down to selling.I just don`t think thats right..
Somebody ask how many dogs in my kennel have out crosses in them, depends on how far you go back. I don`t have many dogs that have on outcross in them, may be two. Everything else has Boldstroke on top and bottom, most going back at least 3-4 generations.
We may make an outcross , I`m not saying we won`t but it`s not in the plans right now.I have seen a few good dogs that may work well with the Boldstrokes but not right now.

pwill, I'll tell you what......I've never seen branko on here telling a bunch of bullsh-t stories like gill does. His dogs speak for themselves with their trial records. I'm not even a branko fan! I've seen some good branko dogs and I even saw boldstrokes nipper and star run at 6 mos old. They were pretty nice. Saw Hurricane Mack run too! The way gill talked he was the best thing since sliced bread.......well why did he sell him? I think Abshire bought him......but he can't even remember the dogs name.....lol. What a joke! Every year or two Gill is on here bragging his dogs up......then he comes down with some life threatening illness and offers to sell out his kennel. Then before you know it he's got dogs again...."The most high powered dogs.....come see whats under the hood"......ha ha. Now he's a bounty hunter????????? He keeps beating that dead horse into the ground about Nipper being the youngest hound and Sally this and Sally that. That was years ago!!!!
Pwill and mark......gill's not doing you any favors by being on here and talking the nonsense he's known for. Breed your dogs and let them prove what they can do.
I called gill out a few years ago about breeding the BEST TO THE BEST and he lied. The pup I got was a cull from the get go! He wouldn't even admit to breeding the female the pup was off of. Then he said Mack was only bred a couple of times that year. AKC said mack was bred 11 times that year. Funny I've never heard of any good dogs out of Mack......So throw breeding the best to the best out the window!!!!

Lance I see where your coming from, I guess I would feel the same way. I never asked Gil to get on here and talk dogs, breeding,or anything else. He still loves the dogs but he don`t own any. Mark and Chris were at his house hunting this past year and he had 1 dog then and they brought her back with them. I like Gil but I see your point. I have been saying the same thing you said, come see what WE are doing, Gil still gives advice sometimes but we make the final decision. Like I said I like Gil, he is a good friend, never done me wrong and if some think he has then oh well.
As far as Branko I have a heavy Branko female that I like alot, she is very close to being a bench champion as well as a hunting beagle champion. But my Boldstrokes out hunt her everytime.
I wasn`t knocking Brankos just making a point, it could of been any line out there.
I have Star here at my place , she is old and probably won`t make it much longer but she has been a good dog. Nipper I never seen her but heard stories not only from Gil but others including the man who owned her.
I think we can agree and agree to disagree on most of this , I thank you for explaining how you were treated , I don`t do business that way. Sorry you had troubles.
The line is getting better and time will tell how good they are.

Guys, I don't know why you guys got to get on here and make a big deal out of Gil. A question was asked about Boldstrokes and I've never seen a post from Gil Boldstroke. This line has been taken over by the guys from North Carolina and I've met pwill. He was a fine courteous gentleman when I met him. These NC guys have put the invite out for ANYONE to come hunting with their Boldstrokes. They didn't say come watch Gil Boldstroke run or come chat with Gil as Gil is no longer the master of these hounds the NC boys are. Now if some of you want to rant and rave about Gil go do it on your own post as this thread was started to find out about Blodstrokes as they are today not several years ago. All that ancient crap is just that, HISTORY that pwill and Mark were not even a part of. Give these guys a break as you don't see them on here bragging these dogs up to the max and if you don't like their stuff so what, who cares. I say you've got no idea what these guys have until you quit running the mouth and run the dogs. Put your best down with what these guys have produced and then you can make a comparison but until then you don't know squat about THEIR dogs.
I don't know who Gill Boldstroke is.....If your talking about Gill Davis, maybe you should read the first page of this thread. If you could go back far enough into the archives, you would see several of the same nonsense that he has posted. I in no way have anything against the NC boys. I wish them the best of luck.
I am sitting here reading this to my Boldstroke hound as he lays here beside my chair. So far he dont seem to care one bit. Hasnt opened his eyes or raised his headone bit. He has no clue that dogs a few generations back in his pedigree didnt turn out like the owners wanted. He doesnt know that because this happened that his hole bloodline was ruined because these dogs didnt turn out. He has no clue that before hes even let out of the box he has been judged sight unseen because of his name. He has no clue that when he goes to a trial. That every other pedigree hes running against are super dogs that dont have any faults or faulty dogs in there pedigree. All he cares about is when is dinner and when are we going running again. My hound has won a few times and lost a few times.I have been given a lot of nice compliments on this hound. He has been beaten by some nice hounds and beaten some nice hounds. Had bad days gunning and awesome days gunning with family and freinds. At the end of the day I was always proud of him and happy to put him in my box and bring him home. One thing he does know. He will always have a full bowl of food and a warm bed at my place. I know a lot of other people feel this way about there Stroke hounds also. I am sure everyone of you feel the same about your hounds.Different likes and opinions are what make the world go around. We could start this same argument about a Ford and A chevy. You would get people who hate each and tell there horror storys about each. You would get people that love each and sing there praises. You want to know what your getting in a hound? Do some legwork. Dont buy on what you read or here. Unless you trust your source. If you dont do legwork and know what your getting thats your fault. Not the dogs. Anyone in Michigan area thats thinking of a boldstroke you are more than welcome to come and watch my hound. I know Mark and Paul have extended this invitation to everyone several times as well.
Give em all a scratch behind the ears guys and take em hunting cause thats all they care about.
