Where are you located? I know where you can find them in Southern WVa.

I'm near Boston, MA. They have them where I work but they have had chemicals in them. Don't know if I could get them cleaned out good enough. I'd rather find some that held something not harmful to the dogs.
If I knew what came in them besides chemicals I might know where to look arround here.
Thanks

I get them at a Pepsi bottling plant. They had soft drink syrup in them. Might try that or a food distributor.

If you are in central VA....

Post by DDWBeagles »

If you or anyone else is in central Virginia, I can help you out. We (work) usually have about 25 to 50 on hand and they end up in the landfill if we can't unload them on someone. Please, if you want some, send me a PM or post here, I'll help out.

In return, if you have some San Juans or "caught" :shhh: rabbits, I would love to do some trading. The rabbits aren't necessary and the barrels are free, but I'm in need of a rabbit or two if you think you can help out. Thanks

p.s. In reference to State Laws, save your time, I don't need a lecture. I didn't say wild rabbits, I said caught rabbits, that means "whatever" you interpret it as  .

I believe any farm supply store like Rural King and Fleet & Farm carry them, however not the lids for some reason.
Rural King charges 7.99 for one.

Still have them

For those of you who live in or near VA, I have access to tons of them. There is no charge for the barrels either. All contained liquid ingredients so after a little cleaning, are safe.

You should look in your phone book under barrels.I get them at my work
both 30gal & 55gal but I buy the unused 1's with removable lid to use for dog feed.Like I said look in the yellow pages of your phone book.

I got my 55 gallon barrel from a Great Harvest bread company . They get honey and other baking items in the barrels. Just asked if they had any left and the were glad to get rid of them.

Carwashes always have too many. Even the automatic ones at the Gas/Convience stores. The soap comes in them.

try your local water plant. I get mine their because some of the stuff they add to the water comes in the barrels. If I didn't take them they would just be thrown away.

If you get the barrels from the car wash please be sure to rinse them very very good. Even though they had just soap in them the soap that was in them was in a very consentrated state and is considered corrosive but when used in a carwash it is diluted down and basically not harmful. But in the consentrated state though it probably wont kill you it can cause servere irritation and possibly death. Keep that in mind for the chewers. I always thought they were perfectly safe until one of the barrels I brought home still had the corrosive label still on it and the number 8. Where I work any corrosive chemicals we use even when diluted we are required to wear proper protective gear and in its consentrated state we have to suit up. Rinsing it thoroughly will make it ok to use but please keep this in mind when getting any barrel. Just know what the contents were before.
