Newborn pups with crooked tails

I hunt with a fellow in N.C. That docks all his dogs tails. He says he does it to prevent bloody tails from brires etc. I don't and I hunt in the heavest cover in the USA and have no problem with bloody tails.
I've got 6 puppies 8 weeks old in my dog pen they will be lucky to see 3 months without getting a tail steped on, can't keep them out from under my feet. aint it fun.
