Thanks everybody for all the great offers!!!!! I'm in for $20 also. I told Sasha you guys wouldn't let her down and she wouldn't have to worry about flying to Washington to pick up a pup herself. I told her to concentrate on getting settled and planning her wedding, if I know all the great people on this site, she will have a pup without having to anything!
Bev, what a great idea, both the magazine and the article. I'll get Sasha's address and get it to you soon. I'll even ask her if I can post it on here and once we know when the wedding is, we can all send them a nice wedding card.

I just got an email from Sasha. She will set up a PO Box soon and gave me permission to post it so we can all send them good wishes for their wedding. They will get married July 2nd and Kenny will be home for three days during that time.
She is still pretty amazed that everybody is being so nice! That will be a couple more people to spread the good will.

Okay folks we're close, I think $160 has been raised so far. Anyone else feeling generous to help us accomplish this "Beagle Mission"
I really wish fuel prices were lower so I could drive out and personally deliver this pup but unless they drop we'll have to do it through the airline.
Thanks to all of you for your generosity and prayers for this young couple.

Well folks let me offer some advice. Save your money and your time by staying away from this.
Over the past few months Vicki and I have kept in steady contact with this person. Within that time we have made several requests from her.
1. An address. We have never been given it.
2. Meet up with the personal ponies folks from Vicki's organization to assist with the logistics in this. She promised and promised and never made any contact.
3. After many excuses of why she wasn't doing things I requested to validate her statement that there really is a Kenny who is coming home from war. This took nearly two months to get. She didn't even have a mailing address for her "fiance" and said she needed to ask her father in law. Well I said if I couldn't verify this story I was out of the picture and would let you all know. She finally gave us some limited information. With a little research I found out a whole lot more than she gave and called the unit this person is stationed with and there is a person by that name there.
So I tell her all is good but I no longer wished to paly the email game. I sent her my phone number about 2 weeks ago. She has emailed me several times giving excuses why she didn't call, but had the time to email.
4. The Army times was very interested in doing a story on this. She refused and said they are private people. So my local paper was then ready to do it just out here as a feel good story. She refused again! Vicki and I both explained to her that it was a Tacoma Washington paper and what it might mean to many folks as a picker upper but she still refused.
5.She said she wasn't interested in the pup being donated and would pay for it. So I said I wouldn't sell a pup without having an address and phone number and require to speak with the new owner prior to shipping. I sent her the questionair that I use with pups being shipped. She responded with not one piece of information.
6. I said I was interested in bringing the pup to them, she did not like that idea at all.
7. She changed the dates she wanted the pup 3 times.
8. While we were waiting for her to provide simple information she would make excuses why she wasn't doing it but had time to change dates, and make plans. These changes were not requests either, they would go like this "I no longer would like to have the pup in July, I want it in August" Next "I want the pup in July to be here before Kenny gets home".
8. We then said since no paper was okay for her we spoke abuot an article in TAB. Again she said no, she said we could write about it on here but no article in anything.
I am not saying this is a scam, but I will say this, the same thing I told her, if she cannot provide anything for us to help and cannot keep her word over and over and over again she is not responsible enough to have a pet. Well at least not one from me.
I do not mean any disrespect to these people or am I saying if you want to help you shouldn't. But I am saying I wouldn't sell this lady a pup for $1000 let alone donate one to her for any reason.
If any of you would like to ensure I have not over reacted to this scenario please feel free to ask Vicki. There have been may times we have been prepared to walk away from this but always gave her the benefit of the doubt and gave her another chance then another and so on.
From me.
To each of you I say thank you for puting forth your hearts and your money to what seemd like a very good cause. You are all truly stand out people and I am privledged to be a part of such a community.

"Ogden" is her name, since I did not speak with him I'm not sure I should publish his.
I cannot tell you how much sleep I am losing over this. To think of such a great group willing to do so much for those we have never met and to be put in such a position is truly troubling. I can see why so many folks walk away from helping when there seems to be such a good cause in front of them.
In the future I pray that the Lord above will give me the courage to help when I can and the strength to walk away when needed.

You know what Goes. You put your heart into it, and so did Vickie. Just chalk it up to a lesson learned. Try not to let it get under your skin too much. There are folks out there that need a bit of help, and not one of us would turn our backs on them. Better to find out now than later. And I would surely offer the same to someone else. I cant let one person ruin it for the rest. What everyone did on the board has a great meaning. There are good folks out there. I have found that the beagle community are full of wonderful, careing, people. Some would take there last $1.00 to help someone in need. Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of a such great community! Keep your chin up! And onward to the next curve ball life throws us! You two take care of yourselves! I know that you are passionate about what you do! That means alot in itself!
