Bloodline List??? Lets start one

After searching through all the posts...I have yet to see a bloodline list? somthing to see how many bloodlines there are out there?so I thought maybe we could start one..... I will start wih the major ones I know, and what I know about them...you can correct me if I am wrong, and add the lines you know(even if the same)

Northway- Med-Fast/Good Hunt/ semi-wide check range/
Branko- med-fast to smoking fast/ wide check range/wide search range
Boldstrokes- fast/hard hunting/small to wide check

thats the only ones I really know about from listening to other people.come on:)

Here are some of the lines I have seen and some of my observations based on seeing quite a few dogs out of different sires and dams, I will admit that on some of these lines I have seen more than others, but feel I have seen enough over the last couple of years to make some general statements. I have also seen dogs out of specific dogs that I wouldn't go so far as to call a line such as Big Time, Blue Back, Sebrees Black Jack, Bruner's Ben, Biff, Turbo, McCleese's Duck, Ole Bad Cliff. I have seen very good dogs out of all of these lines and I have seen junk out of them to, as with any other line out there. Here are some general observations:

Branko(speed -upper medium to fast , hunt- very little to extreme dependent upon the cross, check work( they can range from close to wild as a buck)

Northway( speed - Upper medium to fast, hunt - average to extreme, check work - close to wild as a buck)

Boldstroke(speed - upper medium - low end fast, hunt- average to extreme, check work - close to wild as a buck)

Paycheck(speed- medium fast - fast as hell, hunt - average to extreme, check work (semi close to wild as a buck)

Bramlett(speed- upper medium to medium fast, hunt -average to above average, check work- close to almost wild as a buck.

Sock it to me(speed- upper medium to fast, hunt average to above average, check work - close to wild as a buck)

Patch(speed- upper medium to fast, hunt average to extreme, check work - a little swing to wild as a buck)

There are outliers in all of these lines, i.e. there may be a few with no hunt or a few with extreme hunt, but the vast majority will fall somewhere in between the two extremes, I have owned dogs out of quite a few of these lines and will probably own more in the future.

Let it go man, just let it go. I have owned dogs from Brian and found nothing in the world wrong with them. They hunted there butts off and were solid all day dogs.

the only thing id change in BIGDOG's assessment of Bramlett dogs is i havent really seen any that are what i call excessively wild unless they are outcrossed with another line... but thats just me and ive owned or ran with quite a few "pure" bramlett dogs.

as for my line... we'll talk about that in another 10 years and see where im at, but right now im very pleased with what i been getting but im just into the beginning stages of what i consider "my" stuff.

anyone know where the NEW CITY line came from. i have a female that has new city cruiser, new city crocket, and new city boogieman in her bottom side pedigree. just wondering what kind of hunt, speed, and line control this line was known for. top side is northway.

Brian notice on the Bramlett dogs I use the term "almost" wild as a buck. (LOL) I have not seen any that were super wild but have seen a couple that could get wide in the check fairly quick.

The new city stuff normally has a whole lot of foot speed and good hunt, most of it that I have seen has been outcrossed but some was line bred to the best of my knowledge. They can also get wild as a buck in the check. I have not seen a whole lot of dogs out of this line but the few that I have seen ran good, but they had a whoooole lot of swing in the check area, but could handle the track when they got it and could run off and leave you if you didn't get there quick.

Noone mentioned indian hills so i will shed some half a$$ knowledge to the subject. Above average hunt, medium to medium fast, big noses, and check work is definitly unpredictable depending on cross. I have seen inside out check work and i have also seen crop circles. LOL

I see you all like the fast 15" bloodlines, but what about the med 13" & under bloodlines? It looks like to me everyone who are into 15" live more to the north. I live in Eastern, Va and the 13" & under do well in the flatlands and briar patches.

VA Beagler I am in NC and the 15 inch dogs will do just fine in our territory if you get the right ones. I see you are from King William County, I was born and raised right down the road from you in Essex county. I still hunt in that area also, My home is in Indian Neck right on the King and Queen and Essex border line.

va beagler, i used to run a male out of baums blue bourban, 13" med. speed. he was a gun dog deluxe, just to slow for the little pack clubs up here. jumped out of his pen and came down lame otherwise i'd still have him. Baums Beagles seems to be a well established line out of mo.? i think. 13" and 15" med. speed gundogs. not sure of where his line originated from.

What do you guys mean when you say " wild as a buck in Check"

When I say wild as a buck I mean a dog that hits a check and immediately goes into a swing, this swing may be 30 - 100 yards dependent upon how wild the dog is. Optimum would be for the dog to come back where he lost the scent and work it from the point of the loss, a wild as a buck hound will not come back to the point of loss he will just automatically go into a big swing "hoping" to hit the line somewhere.

Town Hound,

The New City line comes from a fellow by the name of Bruce New from I think either KY or Tenn. I used to own New City Boogieman and he was New City blood on the top and if I remember right he went back to Taylor's Sock It to Me blood on the bottom. Boogieman was wide in the check area, good hunt, good foot and good flat run a rabbit as well by himself as he could in a pack of hounds, maybe better by himself. I placed 7th in the champions at the World with him a few years ago. He always looked good in the coal mine ground, but to wild and wide for me here at home.
