Cut pad - need advise!

Need advise - just had a hound come back w/ a cut pad. This is not an ordinary cut pad. The back middle pad is to be cut half way off and is hanging. I have cleaned it up and dissinfected it. What do I need to do at this point? Do I need to get her to the vet or can this heal on its own?
Let me know - I need to make a decision pretty quick.

If it is just hanging, and a big chunck is cut off. It is your best bet to get the dog to the vet. The dog could get a bad infection.

Get some pink ointment that they use on sled dogs. You can order it from Alaska, it get here pretty quick, the stuff really works great. The no. is 907 452 6055

Thanks for the help.
I ended up going to the vet - good thing to. He said it was the worst cut pad he had ever seen. They wanted to do surgury, but she has been bred and that could cause her to abort the pregancy. So they ended up putting staples in and giving her some antibiotics. $156 vet bill - but I know that is better than risking infection and a lot of scar tissue.

Will order some pink ointment and give it a try - have used Happy Jack pad cote in the past.

I'm surprized at the vet prices in Tenn! I work for a vet, and here in PA that visit would have cost you a lot more! (We aren't far out of Phillie)
I think you got a bargain.
We use an ointment in our office called furacin, they use it on horses as well/
But with sutures or staples you should NOT put anything on it!
Some ointments when used with sutures/staples interfere with healing (they don't let the wound touch, kind of like keeping vasaline on your chapped lips to keep them from doing that weird sealing thing they do when they are cracked and bleeding.) Also, some dogs are encouraged to lick an area that has something weird on it (like staples or ointment) so you may have to put a E-collar on her when you can't watch her to prevent her from ripping/eating the staples out.
Anyway, healing pads take the LONGEST than any other wound to heal.
Hope she and the coming pups all do well.

briar,,,,,,,my ole man use to raise begeale for over 40 years,,now dont freak out on this but he use to carry a roll of duct tape and a tube of super glue and a good ointment with him on every run,,,,,,i have seen him more than once get a raw pad or cut pad , on a raw pad he put ointment on the pad tore off the sleve of his t shirt and wrap with duct tape,,,,,,,,i have seen him super glue a cut pad and keep hunting,,,,,,,this is an old timers vet way,,,,,,,but in your case i think the vet was best,,,
