i wonder what yall consider a pure blooded dog in certain breeds like patch and so forth.. for aq dog tobe said 100%= how many generations does it taKE TO MAKE IT PURE OF SAME BREEDING??
god is so good!
Rick, I feel in some ways alot like what CPC said above. Once Willet Randall passed on, the 100% PURE blood was no longer. And in other ways, I feel a little like the line could be carried on, but nobody probably would carry it on just like Mr. Randall himself would have.
In a 5 generation pedigree, you will have 62 dogs....if 4 out of those 62 are not of the same lineage, and back in the 4-5 generations, does it make the dog outcrossed? Now think about that number....62....think of them all lined up in a row, all 62 of them, from the current pup all the way down that line to the last dog....those 4 in that sea of other related dogs...how much effect are they gonna have (just using 4 as a random number here)? How many dogs out there now that are based on lines from times past are still all related, all the way back to the beginning of the line, that one sire and dam? I'd feel safe to say not many if at all?
I dont know the answer Rick. Those names way back in a pedigree are neat to look at but honestly, I feel those up closer are the ones having the impact on our current dogs

ok heres goes genitics are the same no matter what ya breed if i got a male named bill n someone breeds his female to bill he is only gonna get half of bill in his pups n ya raise them pups n if ya breed back to bill ya gonna have 3/4 of bills blood BUT if ya breed to another stud dog your only gonna have 1/4 of ole bills blood in those pups now think bout this in breeding like for 20 years and the different outcrosses that have been made in those 20 years n then tell me how muchof ole bill's blood ion there i hear people talk about having dingess or jack of all trades dogs their names may be in their pedigrees but just stop n think how many outcrosses have been made since the original breeding PURE THIS OR THAT BULL SH_T get real folks probally makes a great selling point n thats bout all unless ya really do some good line breeding n keep good records or do some choice IN BREEDING i dont even like to hear nothing bout pure this or that jb

JUST AS JOHN SEES IT

We breed for the take-afters, hopefully improving with each generation. As you said, if you never seen "ole Bill" run and the qualities & weaknesses he exhibited, you would'nt know how to select, for what you were breeding. So, to even put him in the pedigree time and time again without the first hand knowledge of what your after, is like flying blind.
As was so perfectly put by VABEAGLER one time about the Patch hounds, "The Patches are more than blood, they are a vision, seen and painted by their masters hand. If you can't see the vision, you'll never breed the hound"...
