Alpha 100 mini collar problem

Post by grosswdg »

does anyone else have problems on cloudy days with their Garmin.me and a buddy we both have problems with our 3 dog system.one of my collars and he bought a new one and it will show a dog in the wrong direction.I had a young dog today was over 100 yards in the other direction and finaly shocked her and a my buddy heard her or I would have never knowed the direction she was, because my earing is so bad. That was the reason I bought one.i was ready to throw mine in the garbage can today, but have to much in it.I've made updates on them.Any idea's would be appreciated

As far as wrong direction, try recalibrating the compass. I had to do that yesterday on mine. In regards to updates, if you haven't done BOTH the Alpha and the collar(s), do that. Do the Alpha first then the collar(s). Just make sure you are not trying to update using a Mac computer. They don't like that!

I was recently having a problem with one of my collars showing a dog different than where I knew the dog was. I have all my buddies collars on mine except a new one I hadn't added yet. That new collar had the same ID number as one of mine and caused interference with the one I was trying to track changed my ID number on the collar and problem solved. In the past my handheld would tell me if a dog close had conflicting ID number but this time it did not I had to go into my buddies handheld and check all his ID numbers vs. mine

we already made the updates.I had the TT10 before the mini's and had know problem,But i'll look into what Andrew said and see if me and my buddy has the same Id number.Because it showed in his dogs direction and if my dog was close the compass would jump back and forth and he said his was doing that to.

Ya I've noticed updating or working on other folks garmins that there seem to a few common ID numbers that are generated when I add additional collars to the handhelds 4-4 seems to be one that show up a lot and that's the one that was interfering with mine. Additionally if your in the field and dogs are already hunting and that situation arises where you have to change a conflicting ID don't do it unless you have the dog in hand I've had a lot of trouble switching the ID number and the collar not reconnecting until I caught the dog or readded collar

No internet required it's done from the handheld and can be done in field if close to collar but reference my above post for my experiences. I don't have mine on me currently but if you go to the dog your having problems with and hit the center icon that looks like 3 lines to go to where you look at the statistics miles speed track train code etc. it also shows the ID it's a #-#. Hit the middle icon With 3 lines again 2nd from top I believe should be change ID. You guys could do it over the phone just to verify if the ID number is the same just change your ID to something that doesn't conflict with his and your other collars. This will require you to check each collar individually. Just make sure you have the collar u want to change on and showing on handheld and it should communicate and show you successfully changed to #-#

Go to this web site and you can download and print the manual to have for use or if you don't want to print the whole thing simply locate the page that tells how to change the ID# and print that off. I printed off the whole manual and have found it useful to have on hand.

If you have an I phone or I Pad you can open with iBooks app which allows you to touch the page # in the index and will take you immediately to that page. I'm sure if you have another brand of smart phone you can save it to favorites and do the same.
