From the list in your signature..I am sure you have some of the same feelings...lol I have owned 4 of the dogs I listed...ALL of them were bought as older dogs.

Hey, that is what I have seen Jake....I have seen others...just not enough to put them in the category with the ones I have seen with my own eyes. That is surely not discrediting other very good hounds. But, this post is about the ones you have witnessed.

This list is subject to change in time....honestly I hope it does, but the style of dog I like won't change. I sure have owned a bunch of culls here and continue to cull....

I don't take credit for the ones I have...just fortunate enough to be in the right place and time to buy them....

You like what you got and they are the best you have seen(while honestly and critically evaluating), then you are in a decent spot....IMO

This is a tough one, but Mr.Jim Hall , BCK description for a gun Dog/Trial hound was what I also like but I am here in the deep south and he iis lots mpore North of my location. When I was traveling around the USA, back in my Fields Trials Days, I seen and judged many mighty good hounds,in all the 12 months out of the year about 1989/98 The Newly Started up ARHA Progressive Pack was where I seen these hounds compeat in, and after that, I am still Gun Hunting to this very day.

1)- Gr.Fld.Ch. Hall Of Fame, Sunshine Mills Hound Of The Year Two years in a row, Honey Springs Radar, owned by Rocky Smith Oklahoma

2)- Gr.Fld.Ch. Hall OF Fame, Cotton Country Scout, owned by Mr,George Blaine, Oak Grove La.

3) Gr.Fld Ch. Hall Of Fame, Sunshine Mills Hound Of The Year in 1998 runner up 1997 Daddy Rabbit's Squeel

4)- AKC/ARHA Fld.Ch. Run Em Over Tank, young man from Ohio owned him at the time,, I forget his name.

5)- Fld.Ch. Hall Of Fame, Sunshine Mills Hound Of The Year Daddy Rabbit's king.

6)- Daddy Rabbit's Pretty Boy Floyd, he was never place in a Field Trial,, but mighty good Gun Dog in the Deep South..

Lots of water has gone over the dam since these old hounds were running and gunned over. I must mention Mr.George Blaine's Macon Ridge Fld.Ch. Cookie I see her and Tank run for the US P.P. Championship back in the mid 90's best run of I ever seen they ran for an hour and came back with a Tie, they had to run for another half hour the Big Male "Tank" beat her by a check, they both were Outstanding that day.

It ,makes me scratch my head that with the hundreds maybe thousands of pups produced in the last ten years, someone wood have improved the breed. Have we passed the pinnacle of super rabbit dogs.
Maybe its true, the longer they have been dead the better they get. ;)

Scratch & figure all you want, but these are the best I've seen. Although, I haven't judged any Mid-West trials in about 10 years so maybe there are some as good or better out there than on my list, but I doubt any are as good as the first two I mentioned, Pie & Grace.
