Made contact with a couple guys. I thought I had a good deal worked out, then when it fell through, I moved on to the next best thing( I thought)! Got the dog home, ran it, did a little bit more research, decided the dog has to have Bassett hound in its ped. That got my feathers ruffled a bit! Made some more calls, got ruffled some more!!
To make a long story short, after talking to my attorney, researching the AKC DNA policy,( initiating a DNA investigation, requires a $500 deposit, by the accuser and if not substantiated will be forfieted! To verify by your dogs dna, both parents must have a dna #on file!) My dogs maternal and paternal grandfathers do, but after talking to AKC operations unit, that is not enough! So, I don't have enough proof or money to do anything about it!
That being said, I have to be careful not to commit slander!
so blank- it :censored: , chalk it up to experience! Thanks for all the opinions/advise. :loser: :loser: :angryfire:
Just trying to understand all this, ...You went and saw the hound, decided to buy it without running it. Then came home and ran it and by it's style of running decided it must have basset in the pedigree?

I've had a number of patches with different running styles, some close and clean, some faster some slower, some with patience some wild and reckless.
Since you saw and bought the hound, i assume it wasn't in the looks or build that made your decision of a basset infusion.
I guess I'm just confused on what made your conclusion of a basset mix.

I remember one time down south Ga. there was a Mr. Cooper that said they had made the journey up north to Randalls Kennel and he was upset he had gotten beat at a trial and told them he wasn't going to get beat on lack of nose power again and a good basset cross would give him the nose he needed... I just shrugged it off as a good story told because the fellow did still keep patch hounds.
In reality most all of what we have today lies within the integrity of the breeders before us. If I thought that Randall or the breeders that had bred the hounds I have would have resorted to cross-breeding hounds, I wouldn't have what I have. I believe Randall had a good grasp on genetics and studied nature and how it worked to develop a true design of animal.

Can you give us something more on what made your conclusion of a cross-breeding with basset?
