Been in Germany for couple months now. Seen several hare and a few cottontails although I don't have any beagles here YET. The hare are approximately double the size of our Michigan hare. They look like a large tame rabbit with about 6" ears. They take 12-15 foot leaps, definitely not tame....lol.
No coyotes or wolves but lots of small fox (kit fox I'm guessing). Hunting in Germany is generally done in larger groups and gaining private permission is going to be challenging. They have very strict rules about hunting. I will have to take their "hunters safety program". 4 months long, every Sat and Sunday 5 hours and Tues evening for 3 hours. You have to learn land management, environmental policies, meat processing, etc
Dogs here have to be certified in a hunt test to be utilized in the wild. You must have instant recall on your dog, even in pursuit.
Lots of red tape, but Im trying to be open minded about the whole process and perhaps learn something valuable.....not an easy task for a hard headed American hunter that thought he had it all figured out already....lol
Happy Hunting Season,
