It has nothing to do with having your hound in a kennel. Puppies have to be socialized; the best time to do that is between 4-16 weeks of age. If the owner doesn't get off his/her butt and do this they are not bettering the breed. JMO!!!

Take any hound either in a kennel, on a chain, or wherever u got it and like already been said, if u don't socialize with it, it will be shy.
if its bred in them is another thing, and a lot of times may never come out of it.
