Re: LEG DAMAGE WITH DC50 COLLAR
Island Hare Chas'r lets start a list of Garmin users to send to Garmin for requesting a smaller unit for beagler's. Tri tronic's had a unit named the "beagler" at one time.

Re: LEG DAMAGE WITH DC50 COLLAR
I have several small dogs...I have not had this issue. Things that may make a difference in my situation. I have the long after market antennas made by Tuff Skin. I also, always, put the Alpha collar in FRONT of their regular collar as recommended by both Tritronics and Garmin.
Lastly I put the smaller collars on my Alpha units so that you can tighten them relatively tight even on the small dogs. I always put my collars on so that the box part of the unit is light in front, as recommended, and tighten and place the box over to the dogs right side of there neck, when facing them. This allows the antenna to come over top and almost down toward the ground on the left side when facing them.
This seems to counter balance the box and keep it on the side of there neck where it is placed as some said with the weights. Again, you have to put on is the front and relatively tight. I have dogs down to 12.5 inches and pretty much all my dogs are head down runners.
No issues....hope this helps.
Good running to all!

PROSS MENTIONED A COUNTER WEIGHT AND AFTER SOME EXPERIMENTATION I HAVE COME UP WITH 3 1/2 OZ TAPED ON THE COLLAR NEXT TO THE GPS ANTENNA. Re: LEG DAMAGE WITH DC50 COLLAR
I have been having the same problem using the Garmin DC40 collars.
I just ordered these today from Gun Dog Supply. Will give them a try. The size to order are small 6" tall or Medium 8" tall. Gun Dog Supply rep told me the small size for 13" hounds and the medium for 15" dogs.
MAKE SURE ORDER THE FRONT LEG TUBE AS THEY SELL REAR LEG ALSO.
