Garmin or Cheapo?

Post by tinymwoods »

I wonder if anyone has tried one of the cheaper GPS pet transmitters? I have read up on some of them and $100 seems a little better than the $$$$$$$ for Garmin. The cheaper ones also use your cell phone maps. I just lost a promising young dog out of my old Junie female and White Hussler, don't want to loose another. Any thoughts?

x2........I bought into the Garmin setup the first summer the DC-30 came out (IIRC summer 2007?)

I use mine every week, other than an occasional collar battery every few years I've had no trouble......the buttons on the receiver are worn completely off, the two collars are shredded to heck but they all work as advertised

When mine crap out I'll pony up for the latest and greatest newer Alpha.......best money ever spent

Been using the Garmin Astro 320/DC 50 in combo with Tri-tronics g2/g3 receiver. Love it. The only thing I have changed is to shorten the antenna. If the antenna is too long, it has a tendency to jerk the collar around.
