Some say you can cure it but I think notttttttt!!! It can go into remission I have heard. But if you hunt with others or bring other hounds into your kennel you are taking a big risk in exposing their hounds to this disease. AS a breeder, your whole kennel would be quarentines and every hound would have to be tested, then retested, then retested. All the hounds would probably have to be destroyed. So you can understand what someone would request a test before allowing any hound into their kennel much less use their stud for breeding.

We reqire testing of all Dogs male and Female Before Coming into our Kennel!!! We also Provide a neg test on our males Before Breeding and A neg test on females at least 5 days Prior to coming to our kennel.
From What i understand after doing the research ALL dogs have to be tested at least three times over a 60 day period after coming into contact with an infected Dog and ALL infected Dogs should be put down!

How long have people had to wait for test results?

I had one done in '96, one in '00, and one in '01, I can't recall the waiting periods but the '01 was done at a reproduction specialists office...
(these were different females for outside stud services)
We just had one done on our gyp, and vet said we wont hear until Weds. has to send it into the state.....
Is this a city / country thing or is my memory bad...?

CHECK AROUND TO DIFFERENT VETS.
SOME VETS CARRY THE ENTIRE TEST KIT IN THERE OFFICE, AND YOU CAN GET TEST RESUTLS SAME DAY.
THE LAST ONE I HAD DONE, RESULTS WERE BACK INSIDE 20 MINUTES.
