A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Sad to see the old man go ...lots of great memories and many stories that will be shared for years to come.
Probably my favorite is the day I brought him home from Monroe's house after an all nighter in the mines and proud as can be of this dog I just bought....I go get my wife and pull Lightfoot out of the box and she says "Oh lord Kelly, are you sure that he is even a beagle"

Sorry for the loss. It's always hard to lose the great ones! They are more friend than just dogs!

Is this the dog I spoke to you about several years ago? Son of F.C. Buckeye's Ninja Blue Boy? Ever get any pups out of him and if so how did they turn out?
Sorry to hear about you losing an old hunting buddy.

Yes, same dog.....probably the biggest mistake I ever made was not breeding him to something. I kept waiting to find a "worthy" female that matched up to him and in the process he just got too old on me. I did try to breed him to a Primetime female when he was 11 but she was nearing the end of her heat cycle and didn't take.
It was bittersweet to see him go but a tumor was getting the best of him and he had nearly lost all sight and hearing.....I was probably going to have to put him to sleep within the next few weeks but instead he went out on his own terms 15 days shy of his 14th Bday.
