John Cable owns him, nice dog but not nearly as fast as anything you are running.

Thank you....that was why I ask.

I am looking to cross a bitch that throws BIG foot onto something conservative.

May go watch him run.

I've judged him before and he has won under me. Tight line control, close check work, but he is flat medium speed in my book. I did see him on snow once and he struggled too much for my liking.

I have judged him and watched him run many times. Very successful hound. He won our purina points 13" class last weekend at Blue Ridge Beagle Club. He wasn't the hardest hitting/fastest hound on the ground , but he did lead and control the chase often enough. I watched several times as the leading couple hounds went over the end,the chase was corrected and turned most often by Aesop. He didn't just fade back and recind the lead either. Skirting hounds got in front of him and drove the rabbit only to repeat. Eventually those fools were picked up , and it was then the Aesop show !!!! Final rabbit was Close to an hour of steady running. Was a nice final 5 to watch.
He's not a windsplitter , but will ramp up some when pressured. I would be proud to own that hound. The "Real Deal "

Wait a second, I see you changed the title of the post now. Are you talking about FCGD Cable's Aesop? Or a different dog?

He is owned by dr. Cable.
I may have his title incorrect. I read an article in a paper about him.

My friend Gary Penrose, that you know as well has seen him run.

Sorry to create confusion...thanks for the input!

I have judged him several times and put a few wins on him. He is a great dog but doesn't have the speed that I like. If I ran a slower SPO style dog I don't think you could ask for a much nicer of a hound!

Fair assessment...thank you.

I am looking to add more line control and even closer check work.

I have a female that could throw foot from a pug....lol. She is a reproducing female....just throws pups way to fast for me in the previous three crosses. Want to try a more controlled dog on her.

His wins are ridiculous compared to others up there...he must be pretty consistent.

thanks again!!

Want to thank John Cable for his time last evening. Very good guy with a lot of hound knowledge.

I believe Aesop is just what I want to cross over a nice female. Going to go and run with him in early 2015.

Thanks for the help and information from all!!

My daughter has Aesop's Fable, "The Tortoise & the Hare". Good luck putting wheels on your turtle.
Sometimes there is good...and sometimes there is good and fast. Sometimes good is not good when fast, like trying to mix oil and water colors in a painting, it becomes unstable and flakes off. Even the base for each, a canvas or paper has to suit the need of the application.
"Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow"... Aesop

Funny the comments you get....

Spinning wheels is not for me....linebreed...linebreed....linebreed....end up thinking the next litter will possess more traits that are lacking in there ancestors.

Reality and constant evaluation can also lead to improvement.....you won't know if you don't try....

thanks and good running to all.

Aesop is a unique name, ask John where he got it from or Google it.
