Frenchmans Zacary's Last is producing well. He has offspring from seven different females wining or placing with minimal breedings. Here is a picture of one I have who won last week.. The forth place hound is also out of Zac..
Mtn Ash Dino is also producing some very nice hounds.

NEVER KEEP FEMALE U WOULD NOT BREED OR AMALE U WOULD NOT BREED TOO . THAT GETS RID OF ALL THE ME TOOERS . DONT KEEP DOGS JUST TO FILL A SPOT N YOUR KENNEL .U HAVE TO CULL HARD N BEAGLES TO HAVE GOOD DOGS . FEMALES R BACK BONE OF THIS KENNEL STUDS I GOT OR KNOW WHERE TO GO TO . GOOD FEMALES R VERY HARD TO FIND

Very good post,,I strongly believe that your Kennel is no better than Your Bitch Line,,I have read many books on breeding written by,exceptional Houndsmen,over 40 Years and studied Genetics as well.
Out of all I Have read ,and studied ,Their is only a few Things that stay constant,,at Least for me.
One is The Blood ( Genetics ) will show through good or bad,
And you Cannot have a Line or Strain of Hounds without very serious LINE Breedind Not Inbreeding ,I know you have to out cross sometimes,and Maybe even Inbreed But,only if you can cull HARD .
And,A Field Trial is The wrong Place to watch A Hound to make A Decision about Breeding to Him.However if A Hound -Places -NOT Wins Consistantly at Trials and The Blood Line is compatable with yours ,A Field Trial is A Good Place to get your First look.
Notice, I Said Places Not Win ,,,,,What I ,mean is simply Me Personally I ,will watch A Dog that places 2 nd Or 3 rd at 20 Different Trials in different parts of the country ,under Different Judges, more closely ,than a Hound that wins 5 out of 20 Trials over A 2 or 3 year time.I look for consistency ,A truly good Hound can run anywhere you take it under any conditions with proper conditioning and nutrition.
If a dog Sires 48 Pups From 7 different Females averaging 6 a litter and 5 Are above average and 5 more are at least average the rest are culls is he a true Stud Dog.,,,,Not In My Opinion ,,,,the Best Producing Hounds ,I have seen are Females,,consider the breeding a female can only be bred twice a year A Male 50 to a 100,
Look at how many Of Brankos hounds are out of Anna's Ann,And The Stud Dogs out of Her and Several Different Males.It will suprise you.

Sorry about the Long winded Post ,But Breeding is a Passion A Way of Life Not Just getting or pointed North and the other pointed South and Hope for the Best,,

Theres one thing I have not read.The person behind the dog is very imported.How did the dog get to were hes at, without the person.I say down here in Nc.Jimmy Narrow is very good at having great running dogs.I just meet Jimmy once but hear good things about his dogs and great success in trails. I know a man that buys Jimmy culls and these dogs can run the crap out of a rabbit with speed. If I was looking a stud,I would go see Jimmy or someone like him. I am sure they would point me the right way.

I agree it takes a good reproducing female to help a good reproducing male to make the percents of having a better litter higher. However there has been top of the line females bred to top of the line males and produced garbage. I think breeding is such a crap shoot that you just never know what you will get. For instance bred the same female to the same male twice with two different results one litter was on average way better than the other. So it's a lot like playing poker if you play the odds instead of you're cards you will win big more often but sometimes you still lose.

So we are saying that there is no such thing as a "proven" cross? I agree with that whole heartedly....breed multiple times you will get multiple results.

Still taking my chances with performers in the field and yes, I want to see them go in the field if they are to be bred to any dog I have....we all are entitled to an opinion.

But, I still stack my kennels with females I like, 5 of them, so I can greatly increase chances of getting a pup I like.....

Again, back to topic.....the best studs I have seen to date in producing a very good hound. Shooter, Butkus, Captain Pickard, Mountain State Blue Bud....these four have produced very nice hounds that fit my likes, seen this in person, not hearsay.

Curious, how many females (outside of your own) have you had bred to him thus far and how many have you turned away?

Bred 4(5th coming next week, to run and be bred), havent turned away any, haven't had to....tire kickers get the idea.

Truth be told...I did not charge one of them!! I want quality females bred to a quality dog.....we will see what happens....maybe a bunch of junk..lol.

And yes, all of them gladly showed them in the field.....the ones that won't simply don't call.....that was the point of my choice.
