IMO, attempt to breed her the ninth day of bleeding, see her reaction, does she flag, tilt her pelvis, she will she if she is ready.

I always clip the female up as you don't know the reaction of them at times once tied or attempting to be tied.

I breed them three time(if able), every other day once they will stand to be tied.

Good luck!!

I got one that just hit day 9. She let her kennelmate hump away on her so I put the male in and looks like today is her day.

When only breeding ONE TIME I would rather breed later in her ovulation cycle than early.Usually a female will enter her ovulation cycle approximately 10 days after her initial "spotting" of blood and will remain breedable to the 15'th day. Many females will "flag" and even stand before they are actually ready to concieve [ovulating ] so that is not always an accurate gauge to her being ready.Once she is ovulating and has shed her eggs they take several days to "ripen"/mature before they can connect with the sperm/concieve. These eggs remain viable for conception in the female for up to 3 days.
Breeding early [even though the female will accept the male ] you often will miss due to the female not having ovulated yet or her eggs not being ready/mature. A female does not shed her eggs/ovulate all at the same time but over several days.I believe that for a ONE TIME breeding you'll have better luck breeding her on the third day after she will gladly accept a male which seems to be the 12'th-13'th day after she initially spotted blood.
It's important that you know the first day she spotted to have some frame of reference to figure pretty close to where she's at approaching prime "take" time.If you have a male you can use as a "teaser" take her to the stud the 3'rd day after she will willingly let him mount and attempt to breed and I think you'll do fine and get her pregnant.
As always.JMHO.

According to my vet and many vets in the past, rule of thumb is: 7 days of swelling, 7 days of bleeding, and 7 days of breeding, but there are variances with that with individual females. There is nothing written in stone that says your female will be ready at a certain time. If it were me I would make arrangements to leave the female for a minimum of 3 days and make 2 trips. Otherwise you may be driving 3 hrs. For nothing. Jmo.
Thanks,
Bob

My vet said second day after blood turns clear. He said not all females cycle the same but, when you see the blood turn clear wait two days and you will hit her just about every time. It works for me.

I have heard guys talking about their vets doing ovulation tests. My running buddy had some misses until he ask his vet and had his last two litters on single breeding after doing said test. Haven't tried it and don't know if all vets do it but it worked for him
