Thanks WTV! How does the trigger mechanism work tho? That's what I don't understand with this style trap!WTV wrote:Iron Jaw, Wier Creek Kennels website used to have step by step directions on how to build them but something is up with the website. I don't have a picture but they are just like the ones on Griffin and Sons Kennels but the cheese wheel is round instead of octagonal. The bottom is 25" round, top is 23" round, wire is 8" tall and I use 1/2" pvc instead of all thread (makes it lighter and slides faster) and I use squirrel cage wire (hardware cloth), but you can use rabbit (1x1) wire.
Hope this helps!!!

Re: Rabbit Traps
Iron Jaw there is a 1" hole drilled in the middle of the 23" round plywood. (the top). You can use the edge of the wood or screw a piece of flat metal 1/4 way across the hole for the treadle to hang on. The treadle is about 3" longer than the height of the top piece of wood. Cut a notch in the treadle where it will hold the top piece of plywood about 16" from the bottom piece. This will give the rabbit 8" to enter the trap under the 8" of wire. Trim the treadle to a point and put 2 screws in the treadle 2" apart and 1 1/2" from the bottom. This is to push 1/2 of an apple on. Use screws that will extend at least 2" out of the treadle. When the rabbit tries to pull the apple off he will either turn the treadle or pull it so the top falls. I have had a rabbit eat on the apple one night and come back the next and trip the treadle.
