Dog Attack

Posted this on another board but may you guys can help. Had a issue with a couple of my dogs, 3 of them attacked and tore up pretty badly on of the other dog.All are females. The problem I'm having now is trusting the other dogs they have free run of the back yard.And how should I handle them now not sure what to.Still tore up about what happened. Any thoughts.

The dog that was attacked ended up dying due to the damage that she sustained.

Those three have formed a pack so there is a Alpha female there the other two are just following her lead. You need to figure out which one is the Alpha and remove her from the pack. You will have to kennel her separate to keep things under control.

I agree 100%.
I had to sell one of my best hunting females as she would fight with alpha female and create kennel problems pretty often.
Not an easy problem to fix.

Shock collars helped.
But you need to always watch them.

Where are the females at in their heat cycles? If they are close too or in heat they can be pretty combative, spaying can be a fix.Also if you know who the tuff girl is keeping her in check at all times may curb the attitude but it sounds extreme and you may never be able to get a handle on it.Sorry you lost one of your dogs and hope you get the others under control.

Had this happen about 4yrs ago . Had one female that ruled the roost . I came home pulled to kennel to catch tail end of the fight. Commenced to stopping and found 1 dead and second real bad lost both. I feel you do have an alpha in pack you will continue to have problems u til separated . Since mine has been gone I have not had any issues since. That one day was enough to last don't want anymore as it was pretty gruesome seen to find . Good luck and end it now or problems will continue to follow.

Thanks for input. She is sorely missed and more so come hunting season. All were part of the family the one that I lost was more timid than the rest and spaded the other 3 are mom and sister's so yes I probably have a alpha female issue.Non had never shown any real sign dominance that I've seen so this type of aggression was out of the blue. These guys were pets also the wife would bring them in when it would get cold out . Wife had been talking about getting the puppies spaded I was fighting her on it but now not so much. One had just come out of heat about 3 weeks ago and I think 1 was coming in (mom to the puppies)

Maybe the reason that I have never had that problem. I'm a light sleeper and when one wakes me, there is now question who is Alpha of the pack.

My whole yard is their pen. They would growl and one another but only when they were all trying to fit on the back stoop and I put a stop to it right away.I live in the city so I don't tolerate a lot of barking, they are made sit before eating and jumping only when I allow it. I run beagles for deer hunt also and have had my share of run in with dogs fighting mostly males or when a deer is dead and one will claim it and keep other dogs off.Wost part is that my wife had to call me at work when this happened. Have been keeping an eye on them and they act like nothing happened.

you can just tie out the one that is aggressive still be in the back yard but others can get away from her.

I think it is more complicated then this. I think it is normal to have one alpha dog. If the others submit then there will be no conflict. Problems arise when there is a dispute over who the alpha is.

I always thought that my first beagle was the alpha dog and as I added dogs they understood this. Even my 90 Lab would not bother him...
