When you say shock up over nine miles does that include over hills or strictly all flat land?

Ya my shocking system says two miles but if they are up on a flat above me or top over the hill or around a point it no longer reaches even though its well within the limits of the shocking range.

not sure about 9 miles but did get a true 2 miles here in mi . the only reason i know is some people at a campsite had my dog and called my cell number . that was on dogs collar andsaid they had my dog tied up but it was having fits flipping and screaming and such . lol we drove to the site the odometer said 2.1 miles. when i got there they were city folk camping . they said he hadnt had a fit sense id talked to them . i know its because i quit shocking the dog lol. so it will shock at least that far but its flat no big hills and such but its wooded. that was with an alpha sys
I will not follow where the path may lead; but I will go where there is no path, and leave a trail. LORD HELP ME BE THE PERSON MY DOG THINKS I,AM!!!

scott, why would you ever shock a dog that far away when you don't know were he is or what he's doing? that dog could have been hurt, lost or TIED UP! and your shocking the crap out of him and then you say lol ! you shouldn't own a shock collar.

did i miss something? the dog was tied up. he didn't know what the dog was doing. what if the people hadn't called? would he have shocked a dog that couldn't move all day? some people should not own shock collars.

The alpha sucks! Unless you enjoy standing in place waiting for it to come back on as you wonder why you spent 1200 on the system. It freezes and shuts down! I hope garmin goes good on the unit and fixes the issue!

IMHO. wait until fall and you will see sportdog with a unit. Or if garmin fixes the issue they will be good. But at this point it is one frustrating unit!

I have done everything you can imagine to fix the issue and it just craps out! the big thing that pissed me off is garmin had to know about it during testing we have three of the units bought over the past 2 years in the group and they all do it!

It crashes and you are back up and running in less than 25 seconds. I don't know that they will get the bug fixed any time soon, it is a lot of info in a little unit. JMO.

Said if before, I would STILL buy it again. Good system, NOT PERFECT, but there are none better like it at this point.

I have a wildlife trx10 with 3850 collars. When new I tested it and got 9 miles in intermittent farm country when it was new with the big yagi . I Have gotten 4mi. With small folding attena. I have my trash breaker and trackers all on one collar with no problems and have lasted almost 20 yrs(tracker unit) I cannot justify paying for new garmin and only getting $300 for mu tracker that works great advantage to garmin is size and mapping in unfamiliar country. It would be nice but I just don't see it happening at this time.
