dogs and treated lumber

Post by Andy C »

I Recently made an above ground kennel and used treated wood for house and kennel runs but then I read online not to keep dogs in treated lumber cuz of the chemicals. Anybody know anything about this or ever have any trouble with treated wood.
Thanks

The old treated lumber from the 80's-90's had considerable amounts of arsenic.
Today with all of our "red tape" and regulations it has improved.
I've used it for 15 yrs and have had no problems.

My grandpa has a 4 dog kennel with landscape timber framing and 2x10 runners for flooring that was built in 1980. It is still standing and presentable in appearance.

My above ground kennels are made with treated 4x4's and treated deck boards. They are 10 years old. Not had any problems but won't keep a dog that chews the kennel.
