nope snowshoe run you arent the only one-- -i had lot of dogs that got old and never ran on bareground--- --- i hunt every weekend and sometimes everyday for a long time regardless of conditions-all winter long-- run just enuff to exercise on sod -- i just have other stuff i have to do on bareground - i like hunting hare best with a lot of snow--- smaller circles and its just cool how hare sorta appears out of nowhere---in thick stuff and lots of snow-- almost invisible - when you see him---how did he get there ?? love how snow muffles sound and u barely can hear dogs and then all of a sudden they are here- - might go by very close and never see them -- or maybe didnt see the hare at all- how is it they are so obvious when you do see them but they can get by unseen if you dont pay serious attention-- :D getting one rabbit when its a little tougher or with a new pup means more than everybody getting a limit when its easy -- the tougher ones are the ones i remember - ive been doing it 40 years and never get sick of it- im getting so i like the below zero stuff a ittle less- :D i guide hunters- some of them only care how many hare they shoot and that gets old-especially when conditions are tough and not much i can do about it -- take some guys that just love the chase and that never gets old - i take a lot of youngsters or first timers or maybe they hunted years ago -- the look on their face makes it worth it , and they could be from 8 to 80 years old-- thats the great thing bout hunting hare- easy enough so anybody can do it and hard enuff to keep it interesting lol

Snowshoehareguide, Pete right?? We have hunted bobcat/hare together a few times together. Had a great time with you in VT. I'll never forget those days. Some great, some tough, like you said there all good. We had all the things that you described happen the last couple days. Again, like you said, thats what makes them memorable. You should consider writing a book about the things you have seen while guiding, I would be the first in line to buy one. Give it some thought. You have had the experiences and you can put in on paper in a way to keep it interesting. Hopefully there is a next generation of future hare guides out there. Alan DeCesare

Watched harehounds video clip and bless their hearts, they gave it their all.
Nice to see hounds with such desire and what a test for that it was! a lot of hounds wouldn't have left the road or would have swam back when the effort became to much for them.
Not much to get the blood going as to the chase and it pulled at your heart to see them struggling just to move forward.
I'm afraid with 6 months of rabbit season and me getting soft, days of fighting knee deep powder would be fewer waiting for it to settle, if the other side of the hill wasn't better.
A few days, after the game trails get reestablished a better chance of a exciting chase. When you only have a week at a time, you make the best of what you got.
