Have hunted hare in New hampshire and Maine. All the trips were enjoyable, but saw more hare, had more good runs, and more gunning in maine. From Ohio, the drive to New Hampshire is easier. The traffic going to Maine can be a headache. We have always gone in Oct. or early Nov.

I've only been to Maine but I can't imagine how it could possibly be any better any where else. The traffic around Boston can be crazy but we drive overnight and have smooth sailing.

I have hunted a whole lot in NY, NH, VT and ME. With out question Maine is the best. It's good in NH and OK in VT but way more land in Maine. You can go around the traffic in Mass. by using the bypass 495. Once you get thru Mass, NH and Southern ME on 95 the traffic eases up. I have hunted all over the state and there are tons of places to go. Best bet for the first time is find a guide/lodge to help. Especially if your travelling a long ways. Good Luck and have fun.
