First never breed unless you like what you are breeding both male and female. Second unless you have been seeing what a dog throws from other breeding you are taking a big CHANCE. Third papers are a family tree you are not useing them to track what they produce it is to keep you from inbreeding that is it. Befor breeding try to track down some of the parents to talk to the owners and see what they are like and if you can NOT then DO NOT BREED !!!!!
Thier are lots of dogs out thier that have been breed and thier off spring are on the ground to see what thier doing . And if you can not find some go to a field trial talk to the guys that are running get the pedigree PUT SOME WORK IN TO IT BEFOR YOU BREED OR BUY !!!!!!!!!! YOU GET OUT OF IT WHAT YOU PUT IN TO IT !!!
DO NOT JUST BREED BECAUSE OF THE PAPERS AGAIN THEY ARE A TRACK RECORD FOR THE FAMILY TREE NOT A TRACK RECORD OF HABITS OR STYLE !
Yes some of the style of running should be in the family track record. But again you need to talk to other that have that same pedigree so you can see what it is doing Then go out and run with them. Do not just go by what they say put some work into it !!!
And if you do not want to do that then just breed breed breed and breed some more and maybe out of a 100 pups you might get a good one.
In 35 plus years of breeding and gun hunting and very little field trialing i have found out that the more you ask question then lissen closely ( MORE LESSONING THEN TALKING ) YOU WILL YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT !
All that work will keep you from getting a dog that has the wrong papers on him. I now have track down papers that did not belong to the dog they where on.

Guys, get out and run your dogs, and enjoy life before you get too old. You can grumble and threaten people when you are too stiff and weak to get out of your rocking chair. Life is too short too be miserable while you are young and healthy. My mother in law is 90 so we tolerate it from her.

Funny to see the big threats on here. I've seen some of the guys posting threats on this board.... Some are collecting Social Security checks every month and couldn't harm a flea, others are little guys that would need a step stool to get to shoulder height with the guys they threaten. Do any of you really want to fight over anything posted on this board? Really?

I have been irritated about posts I've seen on here and I'm sure I've posted things that have irritated others but I've NEVER felt I wanted to punch somebody in the head for it. In my experience uncivilized Iraqi and Afghans fight over nothing creating unstable societies. Is that the society you all want to live in where you bash somebody in the face because you disagree about a dog????

I was out runnin my hounds till 10:30 last night. I try and run 3/4 days or nights a week. Going on 74 now, I feel I have been blessed. A lot of folks my age can`t get out of the rockin chair. I check this board out and when I feel some nitwit has made uncalled remarks towards me my Red Neck Missouri side kicks in. Sorry if I have offended you or any one else except MR Defecation.
Every one knows as has been stated on here, PAPERS do not run a rabbit or any other game. It is a way of tracing the lineage of your hound. I was one of the unfortunate ones that had papers FORGED on a f/m in my hounds ped. Akc took DNA money, reg money and when Swampman pointed this out to me and I posted it AKC swept it under the rug. Most of my hounds are DNA`d and all of them will be. You know AKC loves folks like us, because that means more money for them and that's what they are all about. MONEY

You are another one that takes things out of text. I am on ss , I don`t need a stool to stand on. I have never said any thing about punchin any one in the head???? Maybe this wasn`t meant towards me but that's my surmise. Koreans do the same thing, let them kill each other off.

how do you go about getting your dogs DNA'd?

AKC will send you a kit. You run the swab around the dogs mouth then send it in with the money. AKC will send you the results.
