Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
I am looking for a good dog bowl/bucket heater. Just enough to keep the ice de- thawed. I have seen some fish tank heaters that draw about 7.5 watts, so very minimal draw also only a few bucks. just stick to the side of the bucket( maybe). I was wondering what you guys have tried and are using. I have the conventional heated bowl and run into accelerated evaperation.
Thank you

Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
I use the heated bowls with plastic buckets sitting in them. I add water to the bowl for the bucket to sit in and the dogs drink from the bucket. Cheap and holds up even in harsh weather.

Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
Tractor Supply has 5 quart heated water bowls with a thermostat only draws juice when needed. About 20 bucks each and well worth it.

......TSC has the best deals.......I have the bowls on a switch.....no sense in heating them when its only in the 30's........it does hasten evaporation....
Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
I just picked up some from TSC today....$20 for 5qt
While I was there I noticed some temperature controlled electric multi-plug(3). Claims to shut off when temp above 45 degrees. Anyone ever use them? They were $12 for a 3 outlet unit.

Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
They are redundant if you use these bowls as they already have built in thermostates. Don't waste your money. They sense the temp of the water, not the air, so if your water is thawed, it shuts off the heater. The sun actually thaws pretty well with these blue bowls. Don't take my word on it try them your self. I have been using them for years.

Bob, I bought 3 of them ..... First night they did the trick .... I already like them. Bought the lectro heat pads last fall and very satisfied with them as well, no more changing damp bedding all winter.

Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
I have 12 of the blue heated water bowls, I installed them about two weeks ago and out of the 12, 4 never worked. some are a year old and others two. Last year I had to replace two also.
Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
I use the blue bowls from TSC and they work great. running 3-4 i hardly notice a difference in my power bill. With the temp -20F for a couple days and not above zero for a week or more they never completely freeze over. I have seen ice build around the edges but that’s it.
Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
Bud, i too have to purchase a new one every year or so but, with that said the blue ones from TSC have held up longer out of the 3 differnt types i have tried.
Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
Purchased them online off Petco web site....they were $60 each for 12" X 18" and shipped free. They heat up when dog lays on them, shut off when not in use. Last year was trial, will buy two more this year.Where did you get the heat pads, tractor supply as well?

Below is the link to the ones I use from Fleet Farm.
I have the older ones that are round without the flat, they are 3 years old now and they have yet to let me down.
I believe mine are about 2 1/2 gallon pails.

Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
That is a very nice heated bucket,Specially for the price and made in USA. I'm going to order a couple of these. Holds three time the amount of my heated dish.
Re: Dog Bowl/Bucket heater
