Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
Looking for some help with my new astro 320 and dc 40 collars. When I got it a few months ago I had one collar and everything was fine. Bought two used collars and now my compass arrows are way off from the direction of the collars. I have updated garmin and collars. I even deleted the two collars I added to see if the original one would work with the compass and it isn't even pointing the correct direction for that one by itself!!! I have calibrated the compass a hundred times and still not pointing towards collars. I have tried collars close and far away and still doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem? Distances seem to be correct just not the compass. Any info would be appreciated. Can't tell which direction my dogs are when not barking. Defeats my purpose of having a garmin.
Thanks Mike
Thanks Mike

Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
Did you calibrate them in the field? In some areas if you have power lines etc. around they will not calibrate.... I cannot get them to work if I calibrate it around my house.
God isn't real, Beer is good and people are crazy, there I fixed it.

Yes I have calibrated in field (no power lines around), in house, garage, all several places several times!!!!!!

Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
I just bought a new 320 because my 220 did the same thing. it would always say the right direction on the screen but it might be pointing north east in the dogs might be SE so since I usually know my direction I would just go the direction it said and not the way it pointed. I hope my 320 doesn't do that too I haven't used it yet

Ran in a trial today. Whole cast 5 pack took off. Got garmin out and it wouldn't work correctly. Calling Garmin.

Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
I won't use the 320 for a compass, calibration does not seem to hold, therefore using the pointer to find the dogs will be no better. With that said, I've never had the pointer not tell me the correct direction on the screen like Andy C said above. I,like you re-calibrated with out success. I have only updated once I think so I can't say that won't help. I always carry a magnetic compass and if I am in need of direction I use it. If you find a fix please pass it on.
Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
just to clarify my arrow would be pointing north east on the compass but when I'm holding its actually pointing SE
Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
....check the update time.........remember its always behind the dogs......and when you are very close or in a hilly terrain...it has issues....

Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
How do you check the orientation settings? I don't remember seeing that.

Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
From the main menu select Setup>Map>Orientation. North up shows north always at top of screen page. Track-up shows your current direction of travel toward top of page.
Re: Astro 320 with dc 40 problem
The compass is showing north in both settings. And it is to the right. Should they be different? Compass arrow isn't even opposite direction. It jumps around all over the place but usually settles about a quarter of a turn off of the direction of the collar.
