Alpha Question

Post by Pine Ridge Beagles »

I just bought a Alpha and have a map question. While viewing the map screen one of 4 dogs shown has a blue dot that is showing I cannot find where to make it go away and how did I get it ther. Thanks Al

Is it like a straight pen? Like you put a pin in a map to mark a location back in the ole days? You can touch the screen anywhere and put one of these "pins" there & they do have a round blue head that looks like a dot. If that's what it is you should be able to tap the blue dot & a tan rectangular text box will pop up next to it. This box is where you can name the pin & get other info. If you want to remove the pin there is an "x" in the upper right hand corner of the tan box. Just touch the x & the box closes & the pin goes away. It is much easier & faster than my reply makes it sound

It held my settings.

I did not have them all where I wanted them, but read thru the quick guide and fixed it how I wanted.

I enjoy using mine!!

No your settings stay the same, you may lose current tracks. That blue pin is different than the one (red) that happens when you touch the map. The red one goes when you press the back arrow. The blue is actually on the dog and happens when you are on the collar info page and press go.

Just checked, mine drops a blue pin when I tap the map, maybe my alpha is color blind

You canot disable that pin, but if you go light when you touch the screen it will not come on. when it is on there just hit the back arrow in the bottom left corner to get rid of it.

I guess I shall forever remain regulated to the past. Reading all this stuff about how to modernize running of hounds has me in a "check" I can't quite work out. The simple dumb days will forever be my passion and the mysteries and thrills that come from the unknown will continue the hamper and amaze me.

They now have me on all this computer, touchscreen, highlight, double click, dead mouse, locked screen, proximity indication, lost feedback, junk at work and I hate it, don't trust it, but believe the money to be made off it is unlimited.

I applaud all you who can figure it out and if it brings you more pleasure and less troubles, then it's all worth it.

I sometimes forget my shells (quiet Monte), or leadstrap,... why I've even left my gun before (thanks for protecting me Chuck)...
Forgetting to turn on the tracker or collar has become all too common. I guess dieing in the woods looking for lost hounds is my fate...or maybe I will only keep the ones with the God-given sense to come in...

Interesting reading, maybe you guys teach us old dawgs.
