Briar Proof

Post by bmgreen91 »

I am looking to get some briar proof bibs. It just so happens that the Dans briar proof bibs you have to choose either waterproof, or insulated. I am also reading up on the Mule hunting bibs and it says they are water proof but it does not say anything about insulated. I am looking for some people to give me their opinions on which brand is better, and if there is a better brand out there what is it? Like I said I prefer water proof and insulated.

Thanks Chuck! I get out of work tonight at 10 pm so I will give you a call tomorrow. Not to many people are still functioning at that time of night.

Green, I have used both Dan and Mule, insulated and uninsulated. I personally prefer the Dan's (uninsulated/waterproof). They are lighter, durable, and because they are waterproof they are warm as well. The Mules that I had and that other friends had, seem to be a bit heavy. Other than the additional weight they are good too!!! Good Luck Choosing!!! WTV

I like the Dan's uninsulated waterproof. They are light. The key is to get them large enough to wear over warm clothes when it is cold and still wear them over light clothes when it is warm. ROWCO

I went with the Mules and they seem bullet proof. I can't even wear insulated underwear with them until the temps drop into the teens. They are a bit heavy, but it's worth it for the quality.

I just ordered the waterproof ones from mule. They seem like they will be impenetrable. I wore them the other night after a rain, the water just ran off them. They are also warm, they function the same way letting anything out as they do in.

I also have a pair of briar proof pants from Dan's. I've worn them 3 seasons. They are nice, but some stuff does get through them. I'd go with the mules.

Another vote for Mule. I went with non water proof and spray them with silicon. I like them a lot more than my Dan's I just replaced after 5-6 years. The fit is better and they are more comfortable. I also have a pair of the vented chaps that I love...

Mule is the best on the market in my own opinion. Give Mr. Prather a call, he will set you up!

I have both. The mules are much thicker and tougher but for down here in Louisiana, I only get to wear them when the weather stays under 50 degrees or so, which aint very often. I got a pair of Dan's uninsulated bibs that are light and can be worn comfortably up to 72 degrees or so. My mules are 5 years old and look brand new, my Dans are 4 years old and are kinda beat up but they have more mileage on them due to the warm weather. If I lived farther north, I would throw then dans away or use them for summer running only. The Mules are indestructable.
