If congress and senates salarys where cut off the gov shutdown would have never happened.....there is not a darn bit difference in either party today, long as there pockets are full ain't none of them give a darn... If this shutdown from both sides don't prove it then nothing ever will. Our leaders both sides ain't worth crap, you know it and I know it.

That is why their approval rating is so low. However, they are making the folks with money very happy. There is a representative running against incumbent Lamar Alexander for the Tennessee Senate seat. He has about $300,000. in his campaign fund. Alexander has about $3,000,000.
If Alexander gets beat he will just become a lobbyist, He has a pension for life and health care for life. Why should he care for the common man.

I think forcing 800,000 employees to go home and not get paid, and foring women and hindering to go hungry, and veterans and veterans widows ,,to go without pay, forcing national parks to close and then. Republican,,politician jumping all over the lady park ranger for doing her job, forcing nation responders for emergencies,,I think all this ,,,just because ,Republicans,,want something but just don't know what,,since the Democrats already gave them the budget numbers they said they wanted, then they did not want that they wanted the President to take 25 million people's health care.

Remember,,you guy's voted for these Political Terrorist,,who campaigned on the plat form that they would shut down the government,,Well you got what you wanted,The government is shut down.

On Planet Rufus if you DON'T also have your head up Obama's ass like he does you are a Republican, therefore worthy of scorn and shame.
The 1st amendment allows the usual liberal narcissistic "I think.." which is how they start all their sentences.

The second amendment protects us from implementing "I think"

Actually if you are a Republican,,who,,supports the Tea Party,,you are not worthy of anything.

And since you have a fondness for men's azz's I guess that is part of your problem hanging around with Rush Limbaugh to much

Politics: White House
Military keeps Camp David open, cuts NFL, baseball coverage to troops overseas
BY: Paul Bedard October 4, 2013 | 2:12 pm | Modified: October 4, 2013 at 2:12 pm

Government shutdown Washington Secrets White House

President Obama has visited the Navy-run presidential retreat Camp David in central Maryland only 32 times, but it is being kept open during the government shutdown for his entertainment and security at the same time the Pentagon is cutting sports coverage to hundreds of thousands of troops around the world.

A phone call to the retreat found it open, confirming a TMZ report.

Camp David is one of the most highly secure areas in the nation and provides the president with a safe haven. The president has been known to shoot skeet at Camp David, which he most recently used for his 52nd birthday, according to CBS White House Correspondent Mark Knoller.

Obama has spent just 78 days at the retreat, choosing instead to spend his weekends in Washington and hitting military golf courses, which are also being kept open during the government shutdown.

In the meantime, overseas troops who typically look forward to watching NFL games and the baseball playoffs provided by the American Forces Network, will get little if any service due to the shutdown. A notice on the AFN page reads:

“GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. Due to the government shutdown, the Defense Department can only provide limited overseas television, radio, print and web services.”

The virtual elimination of sports coverage was noticed by the New England Sports Network, co-owned by the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. “AFN provides a form of escape for many troops stationed around the world. Let's hope the popular station gets back on the air soon,” they reported.

I noticed and article yesterday that Harry Reid refused to allow a vote on a bill that would keep a cancer research facility for children funded to admit new patients.

Today we get this:

After Shutdown: Administration Gives $445,000,000 to Corporation for Public Broadcasting
October 3, 2013 - 4:15 PM
By Terence P. Jeffrey

(CNSNews.com) - On the first day of the “shutdown” of the federal government, when members of the U.S. Senate were going to the well of their house to point out that the shutdown would prevent the National Institutes of Health from starting clinical trials for cancer patients and others facing possibly terminal illnesses, the administration was giving $445,000,000 to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, according to the

I guess democrats do hate children. Maybe they value their gov't funded cheering section more.

One of our political parties is just as bad as the other and between them they play us like a guitar.

It will take a revolution to stop this madness.

What is happening is nothing new. Read history and see through the ages the downfall of the worlds mightiest nations when greed became prevalent. Not much difference in our political choices than Rome and Athens and we can easily see what always happens.

WE better change soon or we'll be like so many others in the past and not be number one in power.

Come to think about it, that just might not be so bad. Many countries that do not try to be up there in the ruling of others live pretty good and peaceful lives and their sons and daughters are not shot up and crippled like so many of ours are.

I don't know about that. NO republican has gone this far.

He hasn't made the oceans recede, however

quote:
Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was "closed" due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.

The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban. Of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business"

We have plenty of Gov't officials on salary to stop folks from their business as usual, but not enough to protect them.
If this work stoppage continues, Obama will need to hire more federal agents to prevent citizens from exercising their Constitutional rights.

I think the Federal government has closed down like this 9 times that I can remember and it was in both parties. its all a game for power. Little ladies with children and bills to pay don't matter. Neither do you and me.

As a retired federal prime construction contractor, we would have to stop work as all money coming to us would stop so we couldn't pay our subs. We know it will start again when both parties can shout about how they won and make their get the votes points.

Good thing is all prime contractors can and will charge an extra fee for shutting down and restarting again, mobilization, room and board, meals out of town, etc. and that will be a bonus for all who were stopped working their federal contracts. This stoppage will cost OUR government a lot of money and all for what?.
