Buddy, I answered "hunt." The dogs I have gotten from you have been strong and reliable hunters. Bobby

Breed to win and all the qualities should be there. It takes everything including luck to win. Have you seen a kennel of champions that don't have nose, hunt, desire, and speed? I want to win. If anybody have dogs have no hunt, nose, desire, line control, n speed but could win, i will pay big money for it. I dont care if the dog sit and lay around at the gate whole day and win at the end of the day. Winning is all im looking for.

That's the craziest crap I have ever heard, you would feed a dog that lays around while other dogs are running. I want a dog that doesn't hunt gets a dirt nap. I understand you wanna win but with that last post kinda sounds like you would do anything to win no matter what Kinda makes me wonder just what have you done to get a 20 dollar trophy and piece of paper. Maybe I just mis understood your post, you know I am from ky.

If there wasn't akc field trials, I don't want to be in this sport. I will go back to bird competition. Competition takes both handler n dogs to a new level.
Winning sounds easy to some of u that don't compete much. Go to more field trial n u will figure out that the most balance dog tends to win. No dog is perfect. If u see one, its not a beagle. Balance n all around is the same. I have not seen but heard of a lazy dog won before. I wouldn't mind breeding to that lazy dog because his strength is everything else. A dog that sleeps around and could win should tells u that he got to the finish line before every other dogs. In the field trial world, you want a balance line of dogs. I think what I have right now has enough of everything accept winning. Who knows of a stud that runs for two hrs n quit for the day n win it. I mean win not just placed. Please pm me because that is a special dog. My dogs went to field trial n did their best n they be lucky to placed.

I figured you were going to say that. Plus if AKC promotes a no hunt lazy dog, then I guess I wouldn't want anything to do with it.
Good luck with field trials...

Re: Most important in your kennel???
Akc promotes all around. The more qualities your dog have, the more chance to win. I say earlier I have never saw a lazy dog placed, but that don't mean that they are excluded from my breeding program if they could win by just putting very little effort. My idea in breeding is compliment breeding. The reason why I choose winners is when the tough gets going, winners step up, losers get rattle. This is why you see almost the same group of dog on the podium over and over. The winner doesn't have to be hardest hunter, coldest nose, fastest and etc.. Winners are the most balance and consistant dog out there. I heard heliprop, shooter, ranger dan, reggie, butkus, pawking, eli were all winners. Did they won because of their hunt alone, or they won because they have everything. If you see a winner dog run, they going to make you get rid of all your loser. That is what happend to my rabbit hunting machines several years ago. Gb jifka came n destroyed everything in my kennel. She did not have as much nose n hunt as the rabbit machine, but she sended them to hunters home. I never look back and understand that it takes more than nose and hunt and there are better dog out there.

Desire & intelligence ! With these two traits the dog has all it needs to become a quality hound.
Desire means they have the willingness to learn.
Intelligence means they have the ability to learn.
