NLPC FC Maravics Blue Barry, FC Maravics Blue Moon, NLPC IFC Speedy Sport, FTC Moneysunk Mtn Man, FTC Threejays Jacks Magie, IFC Armandos Levi are on the short list but the best of all time, in my opinion is 2XNLPC FC Mr Stubs Little Bit Fancy. She could dominate, bare ground or snow she ran the same. She died way too young.

Re: Best of all time
tuck was at the nationals two years in a row in ny. Placing 5th the first year and 3rd the next year( being the year pawking won). The first year when he placed 5th was the very first time the dog had ever smelled a hare.KanesIrish wrote:If FC Barcus's Ohio River Tuck is the dog I'm thinking about, he is one of the nicer dogs I've had a chance to see. 13" Male? Open marked? Knows exactly where the check is at all times? Big nose to make the checks? Can run up with any dog that I've seen? Has the control to make the dog swinging on the front look stupid?
ur description of him is spot on though. Incredible foot speed for a smaller dog( runs the front with complete control and is never rattled) !

How would Branko's One Tuff Ombre compare to some of these hounds? I have heard nothing but good things about him.

Re: Best of all time
Then the Tuck do is the one I'm thinking about...
Andre...the BEST two dogs I've had a chance to see were FC Carreau's Seaside Jenny and FC Great Bear Woody. If I had those two everyday I wouldn't worry about having another dog, the two of them ran exactly the same, I never judged Jenny in a sanctioned or derby trial, or marshal a trial that she didn't win, she could kill you from anywhere in the pack and made it look effortless. Woody was the same way, but I didn't have the chance to watch him run early, as an older dog he ran with me every time I went out for 4 years, I didn't lose many rabbits or hare at the club because he was in my pack. I ran him in a big male class at New England in '02, he took a close second, Marshall Sparks was judging (who doesn't like what I carry around usually) and said this dog finished where? Man is that a nice dog.
I've seen a lot of nice dogs, but it's easier to ask me which ones I've seen and I could tell you about them...

The best I've saw personally run is IFC Greenwells Reggie. Most people base there opinions on stories of other people's word I like to see it first hand. Travis Taylor

Re: Best of all time
Dang it jimmy I was confused I thought we was talking about beagles but if its any rabbit dog my dad got a couple old fiest dogs back in the day and bred them and one of the pups started running with Eddie's beagles and she was a force to be reckoned with. Quick as a cat and absolutely no mouth at all the beagles would run it and she would catch it lol.

Yep. Ive got a jack rat(half jack Russell half rat terrier) that is death on rabbits! fast as greased lightning and don't say a word. my beagles just have to stand by and watch.
as far as beagles I think swartzs cali was about as complete of a hound as ive ever seen run.

Mapel Valley Jimmy,
The best of my dogs that anyone on here would recognize was one you recommended who was an ARHA Grand Champion named Vests Lacy. She would be a thing to behold and hear when running a big Canecutter once she learned their tricks around water and her style of running was just right for running them. We all loved her and so did our other dogs. What a pack!
Lacy was smart and Beagles are not known for their brains.
