Copperhead bite me today-9 lives 1 used

Post by sbeagler »

I had just got in from shooting some doves opening day.Decided to feed dogs. I went to the back yard to let some 14 week old pups out to play One of then started barking.Oh my gosh it was a copperhead she was barking at. I ran over to her just as the snake coiled to strike i lunged over rolling the dog over falling downThe snake bit my foot my heart was racing 90 mph.I had laid my shotgun on the well pump house so i gathered the pup up threw her in the kennel. Looked at my foot it felt ok then i remembered i had my saftety shoes on from work that have a thick plastic toe protector in them. I ran got the gun blew the snake 's head off and another load to cut it in half. There was 4 rattlers killed this week in my area bad year. Lot rain who knows we always had rattlers maybe the wiildlife folks are raising them then putting them out here too like i read about in some states. At a state park like 30 miles away they put out a 1000 baby ratllers last year to control rodents real genius thinking there- a great tax dollar investment or tarriff from our firearm sales or from gun shells. Listen find out the secrets if possible these tree huggers are doing in your state before you have bad results from snakes and wolves. Back in 1987 they put out Red Wolves here. They started killing dogs live stock etc. The tradition of running dogs on deer here is allowed. The hunters started throwing some mean azz Plot hounds in the pack and Pitt Bull mix. Other than the wolves living on park or wildife refuge land they are under control estimated population 100 they predicted wide spread expansion and upward to a 1000 or more. They did not thrive as planned. As you know you cant expect farmers hunters banning together to tolerate the BS so i clap my hands. The BSA GSA and cub Scouts are not very happy on the snake stocking of a heavily used scouting camping and hiking area Raven Rock State Park. Stand up and dont be a door mat in these situation nice guys usually finish last you have to be a nag sometimes even if you dont want to. Google your law makers and governors emails and phone numbers join some of the conservation clubs just to see if you can find out the secrets that leak out.

Glad it did not get ya.

I seen what I now be leave was a Red wolf here in Missouri.
I did not that's what it was until I was telling someone about this Huge brownish red coyote I saw that was as big as a deer.
that's what I thought it was because of the color.
then it cleared the brush and turned to look at me, its head was Huge.
anyone else know of them in Missouri?

Does anyone have proof that Conservationists in any state are releasing rattle snakes into the wild? Missouri, Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Texas and Utah all have posted on their state websites that this is a false rumor and go on to explain why they don't release them and where the likely misconceptions started.... They are pretty emphatic about it.

they also said there is no bears or mountain lions here too.
all I can go off of is what I was told by the people that live and hunt out around Floyd tower.

so now you have a 50/50 shot on who to be leave
residents and hunters or a government run agency's web site.

in the end it don't really matter we are stuck with them either way.

Here it is no rumor. They admitted it to stocking rattlers. Our NCWRC tried to blame fox hunters for bringing coyotes here. I have a trapper friend they bought them from to stock in areas of deer car collisions- told him to keep it quiet.Hmmm sounds me insurance companies behind this one maybe, I am sure there are some honest states out there maybe, but I know BS when it hits the fan.

According to the NCWRC commission it is just a rumor http://www.google.com/#q=nc+rattlesnake ... afe=strict

Owl, I have been reading the Mo conservation mags and they clearly do state that there are bears expanding their range to Mo. It was in at least 5 months of the last two years articles and there is a pic of the bear on the MDC homepage with a huge link to read about so they are not lying or misleading about that at all.... As for the cougars, there position has always been that if there is a cougar it was either released from captivity or escaped or migrated from another part of the country. They will confirm a sighting unless they have proof and up till a few years back, they had no proof just going by what people say. They need a photo or DNA proof to make that claim. That's why people accuse them of lying about it but really they are getting a bad rap for this.

MDC acknowledges that we do indeed have a population of bears in Mo. and has documented that they are breeding. Now mountain lions are here but no proof that they have bred in the wild. Matteroffact, all documentation on them has pointed to young males migrating from elsewhere.
The Red Wolf is confined to areas of N.Carolina, where it is protected due to being nearly extinct. It is actually a sub-spieces of the grey wolf.
I've trapped some very large reddish to red coyotes here and beleive it has to do with cross breeding with dogs, coydogs is what we call them. They tend to be larger than our normal coyotes and show a more aggressive behavor towards man and dogs. When I catch them,I take that right out of them
Coyotes were brought east by people with running pens,as coyotes will run bigger and better than fox.Like any animal,a few excape and started multipling. In a new envirment, with plenty of prey, they have really expanded their range and can now be found thru-out the country.

I know but we have one the best departments in the entire country bar none. I think they take a lot of flack from people thinking they are lying when in reality they are trying to be judicious and not jump the gun or follow rumors.

sbeagler your "facts" need some editing, this might help. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/08/27/16 ... minnesota/ You'll see about halfway down the wolf with the deformed jaws attacked the boy from MN. And as far as when our DNR told sportsmen about "releasing of the wolves" hear is a little more info for you, http://michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10 ... --,00.html at the bottom of the page you'll find a link to a management plan dated in 2008. Problem's been they [DNR] has been in court till this year fighting for the right to do anything to manage the wolf. The HSUS has fought tooth and nail to keep them protected and it took slick legal maneuvering to keep the hunt on for this fall.So in other words they wanted a few dead a long time ago and we all knew about it long before JCM's dogs got killed. Now don't take me wrong , I have no interest in busting your balls nor will I say anything about the problems in your state, but I listen to guys in mine and sometimes it's people that ought to know better spread mis-information that others take as gospel.

Every state is different I am talking about things that are facts here in NC not Missouri or elsewhere I am here where the reported rattle snakes were stocked.Dogs have been killed a lady bitten. So thats no lie that's a fact. you may like your conservation people and i did mine til they jeopardized the lives of boy scouts girl scouts and cub scouts at Raven Rock State Park.Fact the ranger told some of our church group to be careful that they had stocked 1000 baby rattlers WITNESSES to that statement. the link says Hanging Rock this was at Raven Rock State Park our church goes and scouts.I know several my friends say they never seen so many rattkers in there life as this year. One my buddies had 2 dogs killed. The trails we loved to hike and roam we live in fear now. I will see if I can get some the church people repeat the snake story to a tv reporter. I edited the wolf comments as you suggested above, but it's ironic now the DNR sees a need to control a problem they started YES thanks for a wolf season but if wolves had not been introduced to your area a season would not be needed. It is what it is. A 100-200 years ago farmers knew a threat to their well being existed took care of a major dangerous problem, but man and his infinite wisdom over experience thought otherwise. Now there's a big problem.

Just for the heck of it, I called that park to ask them about it.. 1-877-722-6762. View of Raven Rock (910) 893-4888 raven.rock@ncparks.gov. They promised me that not only have they never stocked the park with snakes but that actual snake encounters were fairly rare and that any stocking of ANY wildlife in NC requires approval from the state legislature. No such law has even been introduced to them. Not calling you a liar and I don't doubt you have heard this but its just wrong information. Unless the park people lied to me when I talked to them. I spoke with two different people.

One of the classes I took in college was conspiracy theories and I have written a few papers about it so I am really interested in how things get started and why people believe the way they do is the only reason I checked into it. I got fooled into believing a lot of things as a kid so I triple check all my stuff now
